Lynda’s Journal of Blessings – #776 – Keys
Who is afraid of a little poem?
To be truthful, many people are.
This is because poetry is not like any other literary pursuit. It takes a very different set of skills to begin to read and enjoy poetry. It is a different world, and to begin to read and appreciate poetry will require that we learn to enter into that world with a fresh view, a willingness to change, and a few “keys” that I can share with you today.

In the early 1980s I have one prominent memory of stars. I was a student at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, in New Castle, PA. The painting instructor was the executive director there. One Sunday afternoon, I came back to the Hoyt for the opening reception of the Regional Juried Art Show. The Director, David, met me at the door and took me by the arm. He said, “Close your eyes,” I have a surprise for you.”
