_My Thoughts
Stars.
Do you remember the first time you were aware of stars in the sky? My earliest memory of looking into the night sky, was when I was a small child. I stood beside my Dad, as we gazed up into the night sky. We were standing in the back yard of our home on Harmony-Fisher Avenue, in Frisco, a little village in western Pennsylvania. I lived there from the age of 3 until I was fifteen.
During the summer of my fifteenth year, my parents moved our family into the new house they built in Churchill Plan.
So I imagine there were many such nights over those years when I would have been fascinated by the night showers of stars while with my parents or siblings.
In the early 1980s I have one prominent memory of stars. I was a student at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, in New Castle, PA. The painting instructor was the executive director there. One Sunday afternoon, I came back to the Hoyt for the opening reception of the Regional Juried Art Show. The Director, David, met me at the door and took me by the arm. He said, “Close your eyes,” I have a surprise for you.” When we came into the gallery, he stopped in front of my painting and said, “OK, open your eyes!” My painting had a purple ribbon beside it – and that meant, I won Best of Show. It was my first time to win this prestigeous award, but it marked the beginning of a very long and joyous career. He told me, “You are a STAR.” I smiled, and I remembered that I was wearing an aqua-colored star barrette in my long auburn hair that day. I believed him, and I know this was just the beginning of a career in painting.
Stars have been a present image in my life. As an artist and author, I have stars in my artworks, and stars in my poetry.

By the way, I am the author of:
Star Signs: New and Selected Poems.
This week I received a book review from a man who read my book. I’d like to share some of the highlights with you, from this interview. It is a wonderful thing when someone who read your book takes the time to write a book review that is about the book, and the poems, and not about themselves.
Next Sunday, I will share this remarkable book review with my readers here at Walking by Inner Vision Blog.
__Scripture
God’s Power and Creation
- Psalm 147:4: He counts the stars and calls them all by name.
- Genesis 1:16: God made two great lights. He made the bigger light to rule the day, the smaller light to rule the night, and the stars…
_Daily Action Plan
1_Think about a book that you would like to write a book review to send to Amazon or any other book seller from which you purchased the book.
2_As you write your review, keep your mind focused only on the book you are writing about and not on your personal “feelings” or your own story.
The book review should stay focused only on the text in the book, or other visual aspects of that book.
Keep your mind set on the book and not on looking at the book as a mirror to talk about yourself.
3. Begin to understand that God made you for eternity. You already are a STAR in His mind. What are you doing to begin to SHINE? Recognize that God has planned out a miraculous life for you, because he loves you.
SHINE like the STAR that He made YOU to BE.
Say it aloud: “I am a STAR.” and “My Father is the maker of all the STARS in the UNIVERSE.”
