Tomorrow we say good-bye to August, and we turn our thoughts to welcome in the month of September on Wednesday. This is the best time for me to draft a little ROUND_UP article and give thanks for all of the blessings I enjoyed in August. I’ll mention just a few in this article today.
Last week, I celebrated my 83 birthday with a little group of family members. We ate lunch together at a local Italian restaurant. My sister and her husband cam to celebrate with me as they have done for many years. They drive from the area near Akron, Ohio to my home in Western PA. One of my daughters came from Indiana, PA, and another sister-in-law joined us as she is a local resident in a nearby town.
After lunch, we stopped for a little while to have some photos taken of the five of us together. We do this every year. We posed with a wooden bench outside the restaurant just like we always do. We laugh a lot as we take turns sitting down for the pictures.

Did you know:
I am the author of six published books.
This year, I’ve been diligently working on book #7. When completed, it will be a collection of poetry that spans my entire career in writing poems. This new book will be poems from my first publications in the 80s to the present year. I can say that this has been the most ambitious writing project of my life as a published author.
I write nonfiction essays, memoir, and poetry.
My favorite books are poetry chapbooks and full-length books of poetry.
As we move through the academic world of earning our degrees, we zero in on what is truly most important to us. For me it is making art and writing and reading poems. We might begin with a broad education covering many different options. But as the years pass and we get to the place where we will work for our terminal degree, we have focused in and become deeply interested in just one or two genre. We joke and say, “The higher we climb on the academic ladder, the deeper we dive.” It is so true. We are on a narrow path, that is very deep.
My teaching career was across disciplines – English and Fine Art. And, after the decades of reading, writing, and making art, I have so much to be thankful for right now. At age 83, I am just as enthusiastic about art and writing as I was long ago. I am delighted with the poems I’ve been writing for this book, and for the poems that I have gathered up from my years of writing. I see my 7th book as a hand-woven honeysuckle basket filled with precious stones and stars.
__Seven is the number of COMPLETION
Book #7 is on my mind these days. And I had the thought that this book will be a completion and celebration of many decades of my writing life.

If you have not planned to complete a project you are working on, or thinking about, this would be the time to begin again. SEVEN is the number of completion. My next book is my 7th.
What do you need to do to FINISH something you wanted to do?
- God created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day, marking the completion of His work (Genesis 2:2)

My first thought is to ask you…
Do you know you are born to win?
I highly recommend that you read some books by Zig Ziglar. He was my mentor through his books, in the 80s when I learned that God made us to be WINNERS in everything we do. But, we have to LEARN how to become a WINNER.

“You were born to win but to be a winner you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win”
1_Think about your own milestones in your life pursuits. Have you prepared to win?
2_Jot down the high points as you think about them. Have you prepared to win at what you are doing?
3_Does the number 7 remind you of something that is completed in your own plans to be a winner at what you love to do? The Bible is full of examples of how God views winning, and the #7 is the completion of His plans for us. As we are created in His image, we are like Him. We learn to think like Him, and act like Him as we study his WORD.

FYI: My Background:
Professor Lynda McKinney Lambert taught fine art and humanities at Geneva College in Western Pennsylvania, She was a tenured professor, an actively exhibiting artist, and a published author.
Lynda’s exciting courses in Studio Art, English Literature and Humanities were taught on campus during the spring and fall semesters. Her summer courses were taught in Salzburg, Austria for a month of travel and studies. Students traveled with her to Italy, France, England, Germany, and Czech Republic.
Lynda says,
My passions in academia are poetry and fine art. I author books and I create fine art in several mediums – Painting and Fiber Art.
I Found INSPIRATION in Unexpected changes:
I discovered a new life after sudden sight loss in the fall of 2007.
. For the next two years, I learned to see the world and my place in it in an entirely new way. I completed training for Personal Adjustment to Blindness, It took two years of training and lots of challenging work to learn to read and write using adaptive technologies for the blind. Ad the months went by, God was showing me that my creative life would continue,, but in some new ways.
I began to write Divinely inspired life lessons
New experiences and God-directed Opportunities
New DISCOVERIES to share with the world
A NEW SEASON on the Narrow Path with Jesus.
At this time, I have six published books!
I am working on my 7th book currently and it will be an anthology of poetry that will be a collection of my poems from 1985 to the present. The book will be titled:
Gatekeeper: Poems of Faith.
365 Days – My ONE WORD for 2026 is DAYS.
We have 365 DAYS each year. Make the MOST of each one.
