_My Thoughts
Faithful – Are You Faithful?
Faithful is an adjective.
I am so fond of adjectives because they bring additional insight, clarification, and general information that enhances the experience of being a faithful person. Being faithful is important in all areas of our life. It is a core value.
For many years, I was part of a faithful team of professors who designed and taught a course in Puerto Rico Culture, at Geneva College, in Western Pennsylvania. It was the highlight of our Spring Semester each year. Our course was taught by several professors, each in a different genre.
In my part of the course, we looked deeply into the art that is created by the artists of Puerto Rico. On the island, I conducted my classes on location in churches, museums, and in galleries.
In addition, we also taught the course on campus so the students had a good understanding of the Rain-forest, mountains, landscape, people, music, art, literature, population, , and even the language of the residents. Our course included a 10-day trip/study in March when we were all in Puerto Rico, visiting the many places we studied before we arrived.
My husband, Bob was one of our van drivers. I was delighted when he volunteered to go with us, and he helped in so many ways during that ten-day adventure.
This annual trip came to mind as I was thinking about my theme, faithfulness.
Regardless of our occupations, being faithful brings many rewards and experiences to enrich our lives and the lives of those we work with.
In my quiet moments this morning:
I envisioned myself with some students and other professors, on a beautiful beach in Puerto Rico. YOU are here with me, too. Thank you for joining us here on the beach this morning!
We are joyful as we walk on the white sand beach. We have some surprises that are there in the sand. An exquisite shell that we can bring back home?
Can you feel the cool morning sand beneath our feet this morning?
As the sun rises today, the sand will become hot. Bring some sandals along with you.
Think of the joy that we share as we seek to find a tropical treasure, on this white sandy beach.

Today, I consider what it means to be faithful.
This week I found an entry in a journal that I wrote two days prior to the end of December 2022. Thus,, this short comment gave me some insight into events in my life during that year as I wrote a series of memoirs that I intended to use in a future book. At the time, I gave this series the title The Evergreen Journal. I am saving this group of writings for another project to pick up again in the future.
I am faithful to planning out my writing projects and I will return to the Evergreen Journal pieces when the time is right.
Yet, For NOW:
In 2026, I am authoring a weekly article on my blog Walking by Inner Vision This is a collection of non-fiction stories based on the theme of “God’s Blessings.” I publish one every Sunday, and plan to create a book for publication in 2027. I am creating the book simultaneously, with each week’s focus and essay, here on the blog.
Writing a sequence of short essays, or memoirs, requires discipline and foresight. As I begin to author the essay for the week, I never know in advance what I will be writing. I wait to see what God has in mind for me to talk about. Often, the theme does not come to my mind until Saturday. In fact, I begin writing without knowing where it will eventually lead me. I think of it as a little journey that begins with no destination in mind. As I travel down the distant pathway, the theme begins to weave a story that will eventually be an article like the one you are reading right now. I walk in faith, knowing that before Sunday arrives, the theme will be established and my article will be submitted for publishing on my blog.
This theme of faithfulness is so much like my springtime journeys and the joy of walking on a beach looking for shells.
Though I am retired from my long-distance and international travels and teaching adventures, I am still faithfully searching for objectives every day and waiting for God to lead me to the theme for my writing projects.
In the same way that I walked with my students on the beaches in Puerto Rico, , eventually, I still discover the beautiful shells among the faithful words in my stories and poems.
Thank you for walking on this literary beach with me.
EXTRA…EXTRA…
Below is the message I wrote in my journal at the end of December 2022.
“Two more days before I get my “ONE WORD” for 2023. Two more days to live with my 2022 word, “Evergreen.” I have had eight years of choosing ONE WORD for the year at this time. I have learned so much by doing this. Each year I find that the word takes me on journeys and gives me new ideas and wisdom. I grow and expand in new ways each year.”
In the final week of February, 2026, I write this message for you:
In our imagination, we have returned to Puerto Rico. I’m so glad you took this opportunity to be with me today~
We will meet at Luquillo Beach in the early morning, as the sun is rising.
We will walk through the sand, and search for something beautiful that has washed up on the beach this morning.
We walk together in faithfulness and expectation of God’s blessings.

Note:
What inspired me to begin writing blog posts about BLESSINGS?
In November 2025, I participated in a 21-day challenge to write three blessings each day (for 21 days) I began to see blessings in my life every day. Perhaps blessings were always there, but at this time I became aware of them because I was thinking about writing them down. When we can write down important things in our daily life, we can grow significantly in our spiritual walk with God.
This new awareness of daily blessings has become a template for living.
Thus, my awareness has led me to share what I am learning and receiving. I have discovered that my days are so much better since I began to look forward to those discoveries.
Your comments and prayers inspire the best in me.
Let me know if this message is helpful to you.
Thank you for sharing my Sunday Blessings posts with others to encourage them and share the Love of Jesus.
