Dear Friends and Supporters,
2022 is year 8 for exploring “One Word.” My word for 2022 is
EVERGREEN
I am writing a new series of poems, articles, and essays to celebrate my word. They appear on my blog on:

I was shut down by corona December & January. No kidding.
The bonus is that I acquired natural immunity. Despite this downtime, my writings were published a lot during the first four months of this year. All things DO work together for GOOD, for those who love God. And, I do!
My Writing Life ~
Winter was a perfect season in Western Pennsylvania.
I wrote essays, poems, and blog articles inspired by the sparkling welcome snow. I can say it was productive and satisfying.
No matter what challenges happen in our life, we can change our atmosphere by changing our attitude. There is always a choice in every situation. I choose to be positive, productive, and gracious.

Newsreel Audio Magazine

I made it a priority to get some poems recorded and published in the monthly Newsreel Audio Magazine. I have met some wonderful new friends who like my recordings and send me e-mails. That was a pleasant surprise and so welcome. The next one that will be published will be in the May edition. I missed the deadline for April’s edition! This is fun to do, and the feedback from subscribers has been so positive.

Life at Home ~
Bob turned eighty -one on January 28. We also
celebrated SIXTY -one years of marriage on April 14. This past year has been exceptionally challenging for us.
Bob was accepted into a hospice program in January.
On March 18, he entered a memory care unit in our town. I am so thankful for the help and support we are getting from Vitas’ Hospice He is well cared for, and he is only 3 miles from our Home.
This spring, I have some lovely new flowers blooming. I planted many tulips, crocus, and daffodils in the fall. Over the winter months, I would stop and think about how those bulbs were all nestled down into the earth, just waiting and developing their roots for a Spring Surprise. Working outside a little bit each day gives me some good exercise, and the bonus is the beauty and inspiration of the flowers. So, as I write this newsletter, spring flowers are blooming in my flower gardens. Yes!
I am so happy those bulbs made it safely through the harsh winter months.

My Art Life ~
I began work on a new series of fiber art pieces focusing on the four seasons. So far, I have worked on three parts for a Winter theme. I plan to do a trio of small works for each season – a dozen in this series. I work in my studio upstairs and listen to books. My daughter, Heidi, came to visit a couple weeks ago and we reorganized the entire space. We moved all of my books downstairs into our Reading Room. I have a very good collection of poetry books and they are now on display in alphabetical order by last name of poets. The book case looks great and my books are now easy to find when I need them.
Final thoughts
This verse keeps my thoughts grounded on the importance of the work of my hands.
