Each Sunday, I share a blessing.

Today begins  the second week of Advent.

Around the world, Christians  will Light the second  candle  on the Advent Wreath.

It is purple.

This candle represents the peace that comes from God and from Jesus, who is called the “Prince of Peace”. It also signifies the hope that Christ will bring peace to a troubled world.

Today’s Blessing is Reading.

I am blessed to be a READER.   

What do I prefer to read?

I   read poetry  and thoughtful  personal essays.  The most precious book in my library is the Bible.  My favorite version is the King James edition.   The Bible that I read belonged to my Mother.  Her Bible was always on the kitchen table in the mornings, and she spent the first hour of every day reading this book.  I have several other versions  of the Bible in different editions but my favorite is my Mother’s .  My fondest memories of childhood are the Saturday mornings when she took me with her to the public library in our town, Ellwood City, PA.  While I am reading the Bible,   I  like to read aloud.

 I   am  aware of  a supernatural presence in the  fleeting moments  of life.

As I open my Bible and begin to read, I enter into God’s PEACE.  God meets me  there, in His Word.

READING the Bible, is the  PLACE of  Deep PEACE  where God speaks to us.  The Bible is  the  living WORD of GOD.

Be  Still.  Listen.

It is refreshing to pause, and glance out the window.

Sometimes, I take a late autumn walk in the rain.

Listen to sounds of birds and insects.

As I write in my office, I can often hear  the rushing  water of the creek just beyond  the meadow.

I remember that  nature is celebrating the glory of God.

We can  also listen to God’s voice  in his creations.  His love is everlasting. Even the rocks sing with the Joy of God’s presence.
