Compost: A Year’s Musings in Poetry and Art
A Book Commentary by Lynda McKinney Lambert ©2026
ISBN 979828104274
Michigan artist and blogger, Carol Farnsworth has published her new collection of poems and artworks.
A sensitive nature-themed cover invites you to sit down in your favorite chair and begin to read this feast for the eyes and literary visions through poems that radiate the Creator’s life forces and our human destiny.
This collection of writings and original art is one you will enjoy for a long time. Consider getting more copies to gift to friends.
Relax and enjoy this year-long exchange of art and writing, Carol and I created poems and artworks six days a week, and we sent them to each other through the local post offices in our hometowns.
Oh, Yes! Some cards never arrived at their destination.
Some were damaged.
But most cards arrived in decent shape. This book opens a window to Carol Farnsworth poems and paintings, for your reading and viewing adventure.
Compost is a collection of her year-long work in writing as well as daily art projects created on the post cards.
I hope that a companion book will be coming in the near future highlighting more of her work.
The artworks range from the subtle and balanced arrangement of alphabetical letters on a rosy-red background, which gives readers a contemplative feeling of tranquility.
There is a number of images captured by photography using a variety of high-tech processes that looks like animals are literally moving through space and reminds me of deer imagery from early mythological tales.
With carefully crafted poems that will capture your attention, Carol also moves through the time in a year-long adventure of writing and making art for this book.
Eventually, her artworks move into the painterly
The book records a year in her literary and artistic life. Eventually as the book comes to the end of the year-long-project, her artworks show the progress of her searching in art and writing, and she brings her art to a joyous conclusion with post cards that are alive and moving with Gestural Abstraction, and fireworks!
Many of the artworks are inspired by the poems, as well.
This is a must read and must share type of book.

My passions in academia are poetry and fine art. I author books and I create fine art in several mediums – Painting and Fiber Art.
How I Found HOPEFULNESS in Unexpected Changes:
I discovered a new life after sudden sight loss. For the next two years, I learned to see the world and my place in it in an entirely new way. I completed training for Personal Adjustment to Blindness, It took two years of training and lots of challenging work to learn to read and write using adaptive technologies for the blind. Ad the months went by, God was showing me that my creative life would continue,, but in some new ways.
I began to write Divinely inspired life lessons
New experiences and God-directed Opportunities
New DISCOVERIES to share with the world
A NEW SEASON on the Narrow Path with Jesus.
