first snow

we watch

for the first

snowfall

wait for

silent passage

along the banks of

ancient creeks

dull morning light

conceals

gold-plated Ginkgo leaves

beneath

new-fallen snow

The Backstory

Authors Comment

In this  poem, “first snow,” readers get a private  perspective of winter time in Western Pennsylvania.  I have lived my entire life here.  This poem reflects the anticipation of the first snowfall of the season.

a passage between the external world and the world within;

a destination or place;

an abode where body, mind and spirit synchronize with natural elements.
