Nemean Lion – a 34-line Pi Poem
Nemean Lion
Brave Mastiff
dog
loves summer nights
when
Crystal Carousel
gyrates in wide slow-moving circles
sounds like
lively festive music
Leo the Lion
looks stealthy
like he is roaring
eyes watching for stars in night sky .
vertical movements slide up and down
one stuffed and stitched Dachshund
His stretched-out body quivering
excited
grey squirrel
memorable
Leo dominates with a roar
big feet dancing
merry and contented
Velvet
brown Donkey kicks her feet
leaps in the wind
tall giraffe
towering
Ancient Greek Nemean Lion
sets the mood
Just right!
lion’s golden bronze body
mussels firing on all syllables
mythological
legends
Calling all dreamers. Come aboard!

Note:
The Nemean lion was a monster in Greek mythology that lived at Nemea. Eventually, Heracles killed it. Because its golden fur was impervious to attack, it could not be killed with mortals’ weapons. Its claws were sharper than mortals’ swords and could cut through any strong armor.
I was inspired by the Ancient Greek stories of the Nemean Lion. I gave him the pleasure of being on the Crystal Carousel with his friends. I gave him a better ending than the Greeks did.
With gratitude to the Crystal Carousel Poets who keep inspiring me to write poetry.

My Writing Action Plan:
God has a life-affirming VISION for every person.
A unique personal plan is a foundational gift, given at birth.
Discover your personal gifts.
Discover the DREAM for your creative spirit.
Pray and ask God to reveal what he has planned for your life.
I promise, He answers in a way that might knock your socks off!
When the Holy Spirit gently whispers brilliant ideas and fresh discoveries, write it down.
Make it plain.
Running in circles?
God gives us a BRILLIANT PLAN that actually WORKS.
Seek God’s direction in all you do. Our Creator gives us all the guidance we will ever need.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Now, it is your turn to write a Pi Poem!
Let me know if you write a Pi Poem.
I would love to read it. This is really a fun way to write a poem.
