National Poetry Month – Day 4 – Dream State
National Poetry Month – Day 4
Tuesday, April 4, 2023
I post a new poem each day in April.
Dream State
In silence, I walk closer
shapes are smooth, rounded
dispersed light, yet bright
dreams and visions are different.
I remember the sequence of
serene movements.
Can fractured images be interpreted
in three-dimensional vision?
I hold something to give him
clear pictures, living colour.
tall and healthy, I see a silken beard
He grasps the gift I brought.
ecstatic to see me.
The dreamer does not remember what happened.
Visions are supernatural.
This is not a dream.
He opens the door of his 1941 Ford Super Deluxe truck
soft vintage green, like polished sea glass
anxious to greet me
long hair shifts lightly in the
afternoon sunlight
we are not asleep
not in a dream
summer grass, warm beneath my bare feet
I am safe against his body.
A perception of tranquillity.

I create this poem by thinking about a dream or vision that I had recently.
This encounter I had in my sleep one night was so vivid that, even after I woke up, I knew it was real.
