Today’s Topic:
Over the River (A Sunday Morning Wake-up Call)
(381 words)
Each Sunday I will share a blessing on my blog.
Today, my early morning wake-up call came gently at 3 a.m.
Miss Bessie, one of my oldest cats, decided that I needed to get up and give her the tiny morning pill that she needs each morning. We came downstairs to the kitchen, and I gently lifted her up and carefully placed her on the kitchen counter. Once she is seated with my left hand holding her, I reach into the cupboard to get the two little pills she will need today. She watches me, because she knows she will be getting her morning medicine.
In the evening, we will repeat this routine.
Miss Bessie is thirteen years old, and she has a hyper-thyroid condition. She is much thinner than she was in her earlier days but since we began to give her the 2 little pills each day, she has gained some weight and though much smaller than she normally was, she is getting along well.
Miss Bessie is my constant companion. She sleeps in bed with me at nighttime, and during the day she is usually somewhere nearby as I do my daily chores, relax on the couch or do some knitting. . Miss Bessie is a guardian angel to me.
Miss Bessie and her sister, Miss Opal, are long-time cat friends. The two sister-cats are Muted-Tortoise Shell. The girls were rescued in the summer of 2012, along with their 2 brothers, and their Tortoise Shell Mom, Miss Effie Pearl. Their brothers are a delicate orange cat, Mr. Peachy Keen and A black Tabby, Mr. Diamond. The brothers live with a friend who helped rescue them.
This week, I will enjoy Thanksgiving Day at my daughter’s home in Darlington, Pennsylvania. Salome’ lives on top of one of the highest hills in Beaver county.
I could sing,
“I’ll be traveling over the river and through the woods, crossing over the railroad tracks and driving up the steep Beaver County hill to Salome’s home today.”
Final Word:
I am thankful for this week of Thanksgiving and for the many blessings God has given us each day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Thanks for your visit today. I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving day wherever you may be.
