Japanese Yellow Grass – Help is on the Way – Spiritual House Cleaning
Day 15 of the 21-day challenge.
I share 3 blessings each day from my personal life experiences in western Pennsylvania.
Blessing 1: Japanese Yellow Grass
As the weather gets colder, the beautiful Japanese Yellow Grass is changing. The strong yellow-green shade of summertime has turned dull and pale. It feels lifeless when I reach out and touch it now. Life has departed from the once robust and strong foilage of the plant. It droops, and soon it will collapse and disappear for the winter. The gardener will come on Monday to begin the fall preparations in my gardens. These once-beautiful plants will be cut down but the roots will be gathering energy in the wintry earth, and when the time is right, next spring, the plant will begin to grow again.
This reminds me that I, too, will wither away and die in the future.
I am reminded of our mortality as I read the passage in my Bible:
Isaiah 40:6-8: “All flesh is grass, and all its glory like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever”.
Blessing 2: Help is on the way
My daughter, Salome’ and her daughter, Angel, will arrive soon to help get my home ready for the new carpeting that will be installed on Monday. I keep my focus on the end result of this physical house cleaning work and how fresh and new all the rooms will feel after the new carpeting is installed.
I am so thankful for my daughter and granddaughter for their willingness to help me get all of this completed in time for Monday’s big day of renewal. I keep my mind focused on what all of the hard work and planning will become in a few more days.
Blessing 3: Spiritual House Cleaning
I am blessed to have this time of spiritual house cleansing and cleaning out the years of accumulations that I now know are soul ties that are undesirable and no longer have a place in my home.
Once I recognized these things, I’ve felt released from them and actually feel very happy to carry them out with the garbage. Removing these objects that I once treasured, has changed the atmosphere in my home, and put a smile on my face. There is a very physical feeling of freedom when we release those things that are spiritually harmful to us.

More About Lynda
Several Bible verses compare people to grass, including 1 Peter 1:24, Isaiah 40:8, and Psalm 103:15.
These verses highlight the fleeting, temporary nature of human life and its glory, contrasting it with the enduring nature of God’s word.
Our time here is like a dream, I think.
