My Thoughts
April, 5, 2026
Welcome to Easter Sunday, which happens to be the First Sunday in April 2026.
Let’s celebrate today with a song. Sing Along with Me!
On Easter Sunday, I am giving a gift of 3 poems for this day as we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Each poem gives a different view, color, mood and experience.
First, is a TRITINA poem.
I wanted to write about my favorite food – and combine that joyous feeling with the joy of celebrating Easter sun day. This TRITINA poem had 3 words that appear at the end of the lines. Watch for them as you are reading.
Eggplant Parmesan & Spaghetti
by Lynda McKinney Lambert
It’s early morning and I feel hungry for breakfast
but foods like sunny side up eggs or oatmeal don’t tempt me today
so I put on my jacket and slipped into my outdoor shoes.
I walked through wet morning grass in my waterproof shoes
when the sun came up in the east, I thought more about breakfast
because this is no ordinary morning, today
O, Yes! This is Resurrection Morning – today
A voice in the burning bush said, “Take off your Shoes!”
“You can have eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti for breakfast.”
“Eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti is OK for breakfast? Today?”
I quickly removed my shoes!

The second poem is a FREE-FORM poem that describes the joy of the season in the month of April.
“Springtime Gardens”
April’s favorite color must be yellow
She’s a golden-haired lady with an artistic flair
who plants sweet-smelling gardens
Forsythia branches inspire her to
dazzle with the brilliance of sunlit gardens
as she paints a canvas buttery- yellow
Primary colored flowers bloom in April ‘s gardens
woven among daffodils in white and yellow
captured like fresh paintings on a canvas
Yellow sun warms the gardener’s hands.

My Third Poem is a free form poem that describes a state of mind and reflection on Easter Sunday.:
Easter Sunday Morning
The early morning choir twitters
Chirps deep inside the dusty bushes
accompanied by low, long mournful tones
of wheels turning against the pavement.
A hidden lemon chiffon sun brightens the sky
somewhere behind layers of melancholy mists –
softly warming the stiff bronze branches
of starkly naked springtime trees.
I made no special plans for today,
no periwinkle blue shoes or silky amethyst dress
Instead, I recline on soft linen pillows
and write on ashen journal pages.
Tranquil. I listen and watch.
A gloomy opening of a hillside cave
dances through my thoughts.
From somewhere in the Eastern world,
stories of old dreams continue to be told.
I contemplate the meaning of this day.

_Daily Action Plan
1. The 3 poems feature imagery from my own life experiences. As a Christian writer and artist, my core values are themes in my creations in writing or art.
What colors, objects, or thoughts would you choose to describe the Spring season in a poem or story?
2. Look at the aspects of nature that are in each poem. How do they show a different view of a recurring theme, the Resurrection of Jesus?
3. Write a spring poem using a poetic form of your choice. How will you choose the form as you consider the theme?

FYI
Final Note:
What inspired me to begin writing my Sunday morning posts about BLESSINGS?
In the month of November 2025, I participated in a 21-day Challenge to write three blessings each day. At the end of the 21 days, I wanted to keep writing a blessing for each week and publish it as a blog post every Sunday morning.
Your comments and prayers inspire the best in me.
Thank you for sharing my Sunday Blessings posts with others to encourage them and share the Love of Jesus.
