Lynda’s Journal of Blessings – #746
>>>> Watchman <<<<
BLESSINGS from God arrive every day.
ASK God for BLESSING this week.
Each WEEK:
I share a blessing from my personal life.
Today, I share my life as a WATCHMAN.
What is a WATCHMAN?
How did I become a WATCH MAN?
Did you know, a Watchman can be male or female?
My assignment as a WATCHMAN began to manifest as I was reading a book!
In the process of reading about a 21-day journey to become a guardian in prayer, I began to realize this is a journey in which I was becoming God’s friend!
The book is
The Lifestyle of a Watchman: A 21-Day Journey to Becoming a Guardian in Prayer
Published 2017 by CHOSEN, A Division of Baker Publishing Group.
When I began reading this book, , I had no idea what a Watchman does, or how being a Watchman would benefit other people in ways I could never imagine. I started reading. Following each chapter, the author has given readers a list to work on during the 21-day readings. The idea of becoming a guardian of prayer appealed to me as I began this journey of faith.
I began to think about some questions:
“Is this something I could do to increase awareness of God’s presence in my life?
I have found this to be true. My personal relationship with God has deepened as I go about my everyday life since I started putting God first. I am an early riser, usually up before 3 a.m., wide awake and alert, and ready to begin a new day with God. This time period is known as the”Fourth Watch of the Night.”
I have to say that once I committed myself to be up early so I could put God first in my life, most days I wake up at that time. I simply wake up! Wide awake, and ready to greet the new day with God.
Some mornings I feel lazy and want to roll back over and go back to sleep. But, I have learned that if I just push myself to get up and start serving my time as a Watchman, in no time at all, I am wide awake and I am praying and enjoying our time together. There is a feeling of friendship and love that I have each morning as I pray and talk personally with God.
It is amazing when I discovered that I have far more time every day after I begin the day with prayer.
My decision to spend my early morning hours with Jesus has changed my life significantly.
I want to give you an example of where I was before I became a Watchman.
I have not been able to drive a car since I lost my sight in the fall of 2007. I no longer work outside my home. In fact, I seldom leave my home other than to do an occasional trip for groceries, or a shopping trip a couple of times a year, or an occasional lunch or dinner with someone at a local diner. My major job each day is taking care of my home, managing the property, and meeting the needs of my six rescued cats.
Yet, despite my inability to travel as I used to do, or, drive anywhere I want to go, I continue to do many important things. I can still do artwork and I write and publish books. This is all accomplished by technologies for the blind. I use a combination of three different technologies for the blind.
Yes, as I was reading, I began to realize I was learning about something new that was being planted in my life story. God was showing me how I could begin to pray for the people who live in the area where I live. But more than that, He showed me specifically how I could pray every day in a way that would bring blessings to everyone who was traveling on the two western Pennsylvania roads that I could see by standing on my porch, or walking on the sidewalk that is around my house.
I Became a Watchman in my little spot of Heaven on earth in Western Pennsylvania.
I live in the Village of Wurtemburg, where I watch and pray for all travel on Route 488 from Ellwood City, to Portersville, Pennsylvania.
In addition, I also watch and pray for all who are traveling between Rt. 488 to Route 288 – via The River Road.
May your journey today be
blessed with safety and joy as you speed along the roads.
I am praying for you!

Ad the months went by, God was showing me that my creative life would continue,, but in some new ways.
I began to write again.

365 Days – My ONE WORD for 2026
_My Bible Verse: Revelation 21:6
5He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

_My Prayer:
Lord, I praise you for your personal interest and love for each person. Thank you for bringing them to my remembrance at times when I am praying. Thank you for the words that you give me each day when I am writing. Thank you for the inspirations you give me when I am making art or simply sitting still and appreciating the snow outside my window.
_My Daily Action Plan:
The first person I greet each morning is God.
When I open my eyes to begin my day, I speak to God.
I tell him “Good Morning, God! Thank you for being here with me today.
Then, I go on to speak a morning greeting to Jesus, my Savior who sits at the right hand of God. And, I don’t forget to greet the Holy Spirit, too. The Holy Spirit is my HELPER and He is with me, also.
As the Holy Spirit is my Helper, I’ll call upon Him throughout my day of cleaning the house, authoring poems, and essays, making art, knitting a scarf, watching TV, feeding my cats, shoveling the sidewalks after the snow arrives, and eating my meals. In fact, I ask my Helper to see me through every moment of the day ahead and thank him abundantly for all he does for me.
_More to think about?
This might be a good time to think about becoming God’s friend.
He is only a prayer away, so go ahead and introduce yourself to Him.
He is patient, and kind. He has loved you with an everlasting love.
Your comments and prayers inspire the best in me.
Let me know if this message is helpful to you.
Thank you for sharing my Sunday Blessings posts with others to encourage them and share the Love of Jesus.
