__My Thoughts
Hours seem to slip through my fingertips!
This week, I was surprised that so much time passed while I was busy doing – – – – what?
I wanted to set apart some time for reading. I’ve got stacks of books that I want to read, yet finding the HOURS to do it is a mystery. I decided to tackle this problem and get it resolved so I can have more time for actually reading my books.
I decided that I had to make it a priority if I wanted to get more reading done and that meant giving up some HOURS that I spent every day on the computer.
I know! That’s a little scary, right?
Could I create some HOURS? How could I do it?
I decided to limit my time on-line for a while, and to dig into my books and see if I could get more of my books read. I know, that is wanting a LOT but I want to do it, nevertheless. My goal is not to LEARN from the books. Rather, it is to THINK about what I am reading in the books. Thinking is by far, more to be desired than learning! Thinking requires an enormous amount of time, and that is why so many people do not really think.
I also wanted to put together some personal packages to send out to some of my family members and friends who live far away. I wanted to surprise them with a little gift package and a note to let them know I am thinking of them even though they are far away.
It is time for me to get super serious about how I use the time I’ve been given every day.
No more excuses! No more just coming to the computer without a plan of action. No more waste of precious time.
I decided to limit my hours on the computer to just 2 hours each day to see if I could get more reading done. I want to read books and write with a purpose.
Of course, I realize that writing my Blessing Articles takes many hours a week to create, so I will make that exception. What I do not get finished by Sunday, I will have to put in more time so that I can post the articles on time.
My purpose in writing these articles is very clear to me. I believe I am writing for only one person each week.I will never know who YOU ARE,, most likely. But my goal, to write a BLESSING that is particularly meant for just ONE READER. It will be the one person, that this post today will be a gift of love.
I am making that desire a priority for a week or two. I know that in order to get the books read, I had to give up some other activities for a little while.
Even though I have very little vision, I still want to see with my eyes when reading a book. For me, reading a book means actually looking at the print and feeling the pleasure of seeing it with my eyes. After nearly twenty years of profound sight loss, I have never enjoyed listening to a book. Reading with my ears is a chore for me.
I am still a visual learner, and I want to see the text with my eyes. For now, I can do that and I am happy to take all the time I need for this experience. However, I am thankful for the many books that I do read via NLS. But for some, I just want to have the full physical experience of reading them with my entire body.
You must be wondering, “how does she do that since she cannot see much at all?”
I have never lost my love of looking as I read .
Just to feel the heft of a volume and to inhale the aroma of the pages brings joy to my soul. I love the experience of using my entire body to read as I turn the pages, touch the paper. I absorb the words flowing into my ears.as I read each passage aloud. I usually stand up to read! My Merlin’s screen will tilt up so that I can stand and look down at the lines on the pages. I am energized as I stand and read! For me, reading is an exercise, like strength training, and an endurance activity.
Yes, I an a very slow reader. Yet, I am a very happy reader.
I use a CCTV, which is a closed-circuit television screen that is on my desk. I am so blessed to have three of these remarkable machines that enable me to actually see the text in a book, to read my mail, or to see objects that I cannot see otherwise. The three machines are in three different rooms in my home, and each one does different things that I can use in that room.
Note:
In my next article on Blessings, I will give information on how and where I got my equipment. It may be helpful to you or for any one reading my blog who has vision difficulties.
In my library__
A Merlin CCTV sits on my desk. This machine is surrounded by many books.
This is my place set apart for reading, and doing business work or taking care of the daily mail.
My collection of poetry books is here, too. They line up in a vintage book case on one wall and it is filled with a nice collection of books of poetry in alphabetical order according to the poets last name, from A to Z. My favorite poets have a place in my bookcase. My comfortable reading chair is in this room.
I can sit to have my morning coffee, pray my morning prayers, and often, just sit and think about whatever comes to mind.
In my Art Studio-
Next, I have a CCTV in my upstairs fiber studio, too. This one is an Acrobat CCTV. This particular machine is perfect for working on my fiber art for it has a moveable camera and I can manipulate it in any direction to zoom in to actually see what I am working on with my eyes. If I did not have this machine, no artwork would ever be produced in this studio!
In my Office__
The third CCTV that helps me through my days of writing and taking care of business in my office is a Quartz CCTV. As I sit here at the computer this morning, my Quartz is just off to my left on a table, so that I can swivel around in my chair to face this machine, and read documents or books, or whatever else I need at the moment, as the hours pass by while I am at work in my office.
In General__
My typical day begins around 3 AM. I had plenty of time to begin my day with prayers for people that God brought to my mind. I have learned to love to pray and I wake up each morning with anticipation for meeting God in my library, for our time together in prayer.
__Scripture
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Read 2 Timothy 2:15
During the hours we spend reading God’s Word, we begin to THINK,
Thinking takes priority.
We study God’s WORD and He guides us to SLOW DOWN, be INTENTIONAL, in pursuit of THINKING during those HOURS of study. THINKING brings us to discover TRUTH.
__Daily Action Plan
1.Are you aware that you have a destiny and an assignment from God in your life journey?
Take some HOURS this week, and write down the amount of time you have spent on the variety of activities in your day. Begin with waking up in the morning. Write down your activities throughout the day, and note how much time you spent on each activity. How did you fill the hours of your day?
BONUS:
I will share a book that I have read dozens of times.
Come Away My Beloved, was first gifted to me on a July afternoon in 1973. I have read the original copy till it is falling apart. Something new comes to my mind with every reading.
Yes, it’s been newly published in a newer format that is updated to modern English.
Now, I read this new book that never grows old and never is familiar. This book changed my life forever as I stepped in a new way of living. I hope you find it as wonderful to read as I still do.
Come Away My Beloved – Here.
The book is small, almost pocket size – You can carry it easily in your handbag or pocket.
I can guarantee you will love the book as much as I do.
See you next Sunday for another BLESSING.

<<<<>>>>>Each fall, people come from all over the country to see the changing leaves along the east coast. They often begin the drive in New England, and continue day by day, driving down toward southern states as the leaves are changing color before the shed them and take their winter retreat. We call these folks, “Leaf Peepers.”
This area in Western Pennsylvania, is in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains, the village of Wurtemburg is bout 40 miles away from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania features villages and small towns that are usually close together.
Two 50-mile long creeks converge in the small village where I live. I can stand in my back yard and see the confluence where the Slippery Rock creek merges into the Connoquenessing Creek.
When my husband, Bob, and I purchased this 1929 house in 1967 we fell in love with the surrounding landscape. The house was built on a ridge overlooking the 50-mile long Connoquenessing Creek.
Previously, we lived in the small town of Ellwood City. Bob was raised in his 3-story building on the main street in Ellwood City. His grandfather was the city’s first car dealer. He was a blacksmith, but when the Ford cars were invented, Charles Lambert saw an opportunity and he opened the first car dealership to sell Ford and Willy’s.
Bob, a city boy, were not accustomed to the sounds of the creek that we heard when we moved into this house. In fact, it kept us awake at night for it sounded so loud to us. The sound was like hearing a busy highway with traffic rushing by, day and night. We did not expect that when we moved to “the country.”
To be honest, we live just two miles out of town! I know. It’s not that far away, but the soulds were so loud at night when we were trying to go to sleep here at the new house. It was the Connoquenessing creek that we were hearing dayi and night. But now, after nearly sixty years of living here, I would have to sop what I am doing and concentrate on listening to actually be able to hear the creek. That is because the sould of water flowing over the rocks in the creek is now my “normal.”
One aspect of living here is the woods along the creek and the mixture of trees. One day Bob emerged from the woods with a thin little tree that was a Norwaay Maple sapling. We planted it between the house and the garage, where it continued to grow over the years. Read more about the Norway Maple Tree Here.

Farewell, dear and faithful friend. We have grown old together. You have sheltered us from the storms of life, given shade to us on hot summer days, and you watched over our children grand children and great-grandchildren as the learned to swim in the pool near where you stood for over sixty years.
