“TRUST”
___One Word for 2025___
As a teenager, my life blossomed into a journey of TRUST when I asked Jesus to be my guide through life. He showers me with His Presence and leads me every day. I place my TRUST in God for every new day. TRUST is my ONE WORD for 2025.

My discovery of selecting “one Word” for each new year began on January 1, 2015. One decade ago! This practice has been so vital to my life all these years that I continue to this day.
That firs year my word was EXUBERANT.
I remember that I wanted to live an EXUBERANT LIFE for the entire year! I chose a painting to represent that word in my mind. I think in images. I have memorable images from my earliest years of life as a small child laying in my crib, watching events that were taking place. Later in life, I told my mother about what I remembered from that pre-verbal time and she was stunned when I described some activities I had witnessed.
How do I get my ONE WORD at the beginning of every new year?
2025 is now my Eleventh year to receive One Word from God that will guide my life for the entire year, and beyond. This year the word came to me in an unusual way. The word TRUST also came earlier than January 1st. That was a surprise to me because previous words arrived on New Years Day. However, there was one exception and that was last year, January 1, 2024.
This year, the One Word came to me as an insert in a letter I received from Marilyn & Sarah.
In the illustration on this page, you can see that the word TRUST is printed in large white letters on a green background. On the reverse side, there is a calendar for the entire year, 2025.
When I saw this message for the first time, I placed it on the top shelf of my desk in my office because I wanted to remember to TRUST GOD in ALL THINGS. When the New Year came, I looked up and saw that word again, and I knew it was MY ONE WORD for 2025 for this new year. This word arrived before the New Year.
Do you pray for God to give you ONE WORD for the YEAR?
I would love to hear about your word for this year, and for past experiences that you had by receiving your word from God for the year.
There is no planning out what the word will be.
There is no way to know what it will be because we pray and wait to see what God will send to us, and in his own time.
One thing I’ve learned, is that when I ask God for that word, he delivers it.
I’ve had two exceptions to that. For 2024, I did not get the word until the afternoon of New Year’s Day. Prior to that, the One Word was spoken to me as I woke up for the new day. I knew it as soon as I opened my eyes. But last year, just when I thought God had forgotten to give me a word, it came later in the day. I began laughing, and I felt the presence of God laughing with me at the little joke he played on me.
Now, this year, the fun continued, when He sent it to me by mail and much earlier than ever before. Our God is a God of Laughter and joy. I hope you find His presence in your own life this year as you receive His gifts for you. I TRUST that God will always hear my prayers and will always bring a response, in all things.
The poem I am sharing today is published in “first snow,” a chapbook of wintry-themed poems.
The Poem
In my dream
In my dream
I am standing on the mountain
near the terrifying precipice
sit down to draw in my sketchbook.
I see Alpine villages in the valley below –
a scattered helix of multi-colored
Tourmaline stones.
