This challenge invites you to think back over your years of reading pleasures.
I really enjoyed thinking about my summers of reading as a young girl – how I used to lay on the glider on our front porch behind the trees, hidden away from the world. New worlds opened up to me as I spent my summer reading the books I brought home from my local library in Ellwood City, PA.
I reached out, touched the trunks of trees as we traveled together in the afternoon sun. I recall the feeling of textures and the girth of a tree in my arms as I tried to encircle it. I needed to touch the overlapping surface of the Locust tree, put it in my memory bank where I can retrieve it when wintry days become anxious and lonely.
