I am delighted to present this Showcase of my latest book,

Each Day Hold Some Small Joy – Poems

A collection of 130 Haiku, Tanka, and a few Free Forms. that I wrote between 1992 to 2024.

The poems,  feature  my personal gardens, and other gardens I discovered in my travels.

The book has photos from my gardens in full color.

My life-long love of gardening began as a small child following my father and a neighbor through their vegetable gardens. I grew up in a home where flowers surrounded our home and our produce from my father’s garden was enjoyed all year long. While my father tended to his vegetables, I was busy planting flowers and seeds along the edges of his garden, and other places on our property. I bring this love of tending and nature to my poetry.

 

About the poetry:

Japanese poetic forms seem to me as a perfect way to celebrate the beauty, elegance, and livingness of nature. Because these poems are short, I aim to capture the essence of the natural world where we live.

I love the spareness of the poems because  it compels me to be clear as I describe personal events,  private places,  movements, and  complexities of nature

 

About the book’s title:

I discovered this phrase in a little book, Come Away My Beloved, by Frances Roberts. It is in a little book of private meditations.  The book was gifted to me in 1973, and I still read it regularly for inspiration.

My work is focused on passage of time, timelessness, nature,  landscape, travel and  celebration of life and culture.

Lynda McKinney Lambert’s new collection of 140 short poems,  Each Day Holds Some  Small Joy,” is an  extension of Lynda as the artist and writer. She paints ordinary scenes from her gardens with a few choice words.  Lambert draws us into her private world. This carefully crafted book will guide the reader from early spring to the long winter’s rest. Along the way, we hear nature’s garden songs and Lynda’s interaction with the Creator in each garden.

 

Come sit on the porch in a rocker to watch the house wrens build their nest in the wandering jew. Find time to meditate in the “peaceful Prayer  Garden. Walk the path to the bubbling creek to learn the call of the crows. Experience the world of Lynda as she walks ancient paths, situated in Western  Pennsylvania, her connection to her ancestors. After reading her book, I felt the peace and serenity of this small place she calls home.
