I have GIFTS to share with my readers –

Today is the FOURTH DAY of CHRISTMASTIDE – 2020.

Here’s a QUESTION for YOU ~

In the song, what is the total  number of gifts  her true love gave  to her?

This is the list of gifts – NOW, you do the math~

1. A partridge in a pear tree,
2. Two turtle doves,
3. Three french hens,
4. Four calling birds, (Today)
5. Five gold rings,
6. Six geese a-laying
7. Seven swans a-swimming,
8. Eight maids a-milking,
9. Nine ladies dancing,
10. Ten lords a-leaping,
11. Eleven pipers piping,
12. Twelve drummers drumming

What is a CALLING BIRD?

“Calling birds” are thought originally to have been colly, or collie, birds—

Colly meant as black as coal (like collier, a coal miner, or colliery, a mine.

Colly birds would have been blackbirds

I will imagine  those FOUR BIRDS as CROWS – since crows are my FAVORITE BIRDS.

According to Dr. Wilson of Sonoma State University,

There are two ways that people usually do this problem:

1. The number of each type of gift
2. The number of gifts for each of the 12 days of Christmas
