poets who occupied\u00a0my literary \u00a0thoughts.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">In my earliest recollections, I listen once again to \u00a0Joyce Kilmer&#8217;s poem &#8220;Trees&#8221; ~ All school children had to memorize this poem and recite it \u00a0before the class. \u00a0I probably complained, but that poem remains, planted deeply in my own mind.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<blockquote>\n<div><em>&#8220;tree that may in Summer wear<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>A nest of robins in her hair&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Oh, Yes, I can recognize the beginning of my\u00a0life-long appreciation of nature. \u00a0(Read &#8220;Trees&#8221; In the final quarter of my life, they are still here, alive and thrilling. My memories abound with the people, places, and life lessons I discovered from all those writers and poets.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">***<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">After quite a bit of contemplative musing over this question, I suddenly \u00a0knew for sure exactly which writer and works were\u00a0the\u00a0\u00a0center of my creative life.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">My source is an ancient one \u2013 the Psalms of the Bible. \u00a0I would have heard them read in church from the time before I could speak. The various Psalms have been at the core of my life.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><b>***<\/b><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><b>~ King David \u00a0~<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><b>my earliest influence<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><b>I connected \u00a0poetry with singing<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">***<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">We turn to literature at the most challenging days in our life. \u00a0The Psalms are always a comfort as well as a source of inspiration, happiness, singing and instruction for living life.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">***<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><em><strong>I focused on\u00a0some of the Psalms;\u00a0wrote a number of my own personal \u201cMeditations on the Psalms.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">,&#8221;Drawing and Writing from the Psalms&#8221;<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">is an \u00a0introduction to the imagery and lyrical majesty found in the Psalms.
