My Hoya plant…<\/h2>\n

belonged to my Grandmother, Ida Matilda Kiesling Kirker.<\/p>\n

When she died, the plant was handed down to my mother, Esther Luella Kirker McKinney.<\/p>\n

Mom died in March 2007, and the plant came to live at my home.<\/p>\n

The plant sits on a white wooden pedestal that my grandfather, James Addison Kirker made for Grandma.<\/p>\n

Grandpap was a carpenter and the couple had 7 children.<\/p>\n

My Hoya plant is part of my family story.<\/p>\n

Plants <\/b>look greener after it rains since air is 78 percent nitrogen and nitrogen , above all other elements, is what makes\u00a0plants\u00a0<\/b>green. Some of this element, in its nitrate and ammonium forms, comes down in the rain and is immediately taken in by\u00a0plants\u00a0<\/b>through roots and leaves.\u00a0Rainwater\u00a0<\/b>also contains more oxygen than\u00a0 tap water.<\/div>\n
I love to water my plants with the rainwater that I catch in 5-gallon containers on the patio in the back of our home. I think this is one of the key tips to raising beautiful plants in\u00a0 your home as well as outside. The more rainwater you use, the healthier your plants are.<\/div>\n

In winter, you can bring in snow and let it melt down- use that for watering your house plants over the winter months.<\/div>\n
