I wanted to take my readers on a year-long trip that begins in January, because winter is my favorite season.\u00a0 As we pass through the 12 sections of the book we experience the delights, perils, celebrations and hopes for the future as we build upon the history and heritage of the past.<\/p>\n

I included many private and never before published stories from my own life and from my childhood\u00a0 as part of a Pennsylvania\u00a0 steelworker’s family.\u00a0 Each section opens with a poem for that month and it is followed by several essays and short stories. My first published collection of poems and historical notes and essays was created as my tenure project at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa.<\/p>\n

I developed\u00a0 my subject matter over a period of years as I traveled each summer to teach a course in Austria.\u00a0 My students and I traveled to several European countries to study the culture, art, music and history.\u00a0 My\u00a0 journal writings became the core of this\u00a0 first book.\u00a0 While we studied on-site, we also set up an art studio in a local shcool where we created art and did our writings in addition to our many travel days.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

About Lynda<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lynda Lambert lives in the Village of Wurtemburg, located in Western Pennsylvania’s foothills.<\/p>\n

She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania \u2013 BFA in painting 1989.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 1987 she had a fellowship at the Vermont Studio School, Johnson, Vt.<\/p>\n

In 1988 she had a fellowship at the Hambidge Center, Rabun Gap, GA.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 1991, she earned the MFA in Painting at West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV.<\/p>\n

Following graduation from WVU, she traveled to Austria and Germany where she decided that she would create a program to each drawing and writing in Europe during future summers.\u00a0 She returned to the US and accepted a position in California where she was a Grants Specialist from 1991 \u2013 1993.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In January 1993, she returned to Pennsylvania to accept a position as executive director of the Hoyt Institute of Fine arts. During her tenure at the Hoyt, she completed the MA degree in English at Slippery Rock University of PA.in 1994.<\/p>\n

Lynda served in her position at the Hoyt until the fall of 1996 when she accepted a tenure track position at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After she began her work a Geneva College, she was able to fulfil her promise to spend her summers in Europe and to take students on month-long drawing and writing programs each year. Her first course with students was the summer of 1998. She continued this program until l her retirement in the fall of 2008.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the yearly semesters at the Geneva campus, she taught courses in Humanities, advanced studies in literature, and studio courses in various genres. She also participated in teaching experiences each spring in Arizona and Puerto Rico. Lynda is a strong advocate for international experiences for students.<\/p>\n

Lynda\u2019s first book is Concerti: Psalms for the Pilgrimage<\/em>.\u00a0 It was published as a tenure project. In addition to writing this book, she also created an exhibition that traveled across the US to galleries for 3 years.<\/p>\n

Retirement in 2008, gave Lynda the opportunity to continue her art and writing projects full-time. Since retirement in 2008, she has published 5 books of poetry and non-fiction essays.<\/p>\n
