Dear Friends and Supporters,<\/p>\n

I planned earlier this year to create a newsletter in July and November.<\/p>\n

Thank you for your contacts and support of my creative life.<\/p>\n

Because we are halfway through 2021, I think it\u2019s a great time to share some highlights.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Life at Home ~<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Bob turned EIGHTY on January 28.\u00a0 Family members came here to honor this day.\u00a0 Bob and I danced in the kitchen together for the occasion. It was such a fun day.<\/p>\n

Celebrating Bob’s 80th birthday.<\/p><\/div>\n

We also celebrated SIXTY years of marriage on April 14.<\/span><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

I like to work in the little gardens I created outside.<\/p>\n

Mossy Rocks Garden created in the small triangle space beside the porch this year.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

We had a new sidewalk put in and it replaced the century-old sidewalk that was getting dangerous.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Now we can walk through the garden on the new sidewalk.<\/p><\/div>\n

Now we can take a walk around the house and enjoy the various little flower gardens. At night we love to watch the magical solar lights popping on at twilight. Such small pleasures are precious to us.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My one word for 2021 is Clarity. <\/span><\/h3>\n

This is my\u00a0 7th<\/sup> year of selecting one word.<\/span><\/h3>\n

It is remarkable how just one word can make good changes in my life. My studies in the Book of Ephesians<\/em><\/strong> led me to discoveries and brought clarity to life in new ways. I learned how to put on the \u201cArmor of God\u201d each day. On days that I forget to do this, I notice the difference. I\u2019m also learning to take breaks through the day to stop what I am doing and experience the love of God and to give Him praises for his everlasting goodness to us all. I am reminded that He created us as image-bearers and for his pleasure. He loves to spend time with us!<\/p>\n

I have learned so much about life and relationships with others and with our Lord, Jesus.\u00a0 It\u2019s especially precious to enjoy life-long learning in God\u2019s Word.\u00a0 I have a heart full of thankfulness.<\/p>\n

My Art Life ~<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

I began work on a new series of fiber art pieces with a focus on the four seasons. So far, I have worked on three pieces for a Winter theme. I plan to do a trio of small works for each season \u2013 a dozen in this series.<\/p>\n

During summer months, my time to work in the studio right now does not exist. I put the pieces in an archival box, along with the beads and objects and canvases and when I am able to go upstairs and have quiet days working on them, I will get them out. For now, it is not possible.<\/p>\n

I entered a talisman in the InSights21<\/em><\/strong> exhibition in Louisville, KY and I do not yet know if it is accepted by the jurors for this year\u2019s show that opens in October. My work first appeared in the InSights annual exhibitions in 2014. I won an award each year. The show has been sponsored by the American Printing House for the Blind for thirty years.\u00a0 I attended two of the receptions in person and loved meeting the other artists and personnel from APH.<\/p>\n

When my copy of the 2021 APH Calendar arrived, I was surprised and delighted that my mixed-media bead worked fiber wall piece was featured in colour \u2013 for the month of August! Since my birthday is August 27th<\/sup>, I am thrilled that my work, Girl on a Bench Sees Visions of butterflies<\/em><\/strong> appears for the month.<\/p>\n

My Writing Life ~<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/em>Six of my poems were selected for the 2020 anthology, Mingled Voices 5.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

This anthology was\u00a0 published in April by Proverse (Hong Kong).\u00a0 In addition, the jurors selected me for a \u201cSpecial Mention\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span> award for a body of work.\u00a0\u00a0 The poems are all new ones written in the past year.\u00a0 I am thankful for this international recognition of my work.<\/p>\n

My fifth book is Songs for the Pilgrimage – <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Now Available<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

It was published in April. Now available in e-book on Smashwords and in Kindle.\u00a0 This book is a revised and greatly expanded version of my first published book, Concerti: Psalms for the Pilgrimage<\/em><\/strong>, Kota Press 2002.\u00a0 For the new book, I am sharing more back stories, original journal writings, and some of my Meditations on the Psalms.\u00a0 This book has been on my heart for seventeen years and it is now available.\u00a0 I am delighted with the cover photo and the work that my editor and designer at DLD Books did to bring my dream to life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Newsreel,<\/em> an audio magazine for blind and visually impaired readers, features one of my poems several times a year. I do a voice recording of the poem.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m pleased to announce that I became a life member of Newsreel <\/em>and West Virginia University<\/em> this year.<\/p>\n
