On this final weekend in May, I walked my two dogs, and I took my camera with me.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u00a0 viewed\u00a0 the gardens and\u00a0 meandered along the edge of the woods. We take\u00a0 this route every morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here in western Pennsylvania, the world of nature is\u00a0 vibrant, with the birds celebrating the new day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last week, I planted flowers in the area surrounding our Zen Meditation Garden. This is a secluded little haven for the birds.<\/span><\/p>\n

It took about a week to clean up the debris from a long winter. In a second week, I began to plant the flowers I bought at a local greenhouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides the flowers, I also bought a new yellow bird feeder, and I placed it on a branch near another ceramic bird feeder that has been there for a couple of years.<\/span><\/p>\n

A variety of birds found it immediately. It seems like the birds enjoy dining in my Little Flower garden because I have to fill the two feeders up just about every day. Our fly-in-dining for local birds is doing a brisk business.<\/span><\/p>\n

I do not yet have the flowering hanging baskets hung up because I decided to put one on each of the wood posts on the side of the wraparound porch overlooking the Zen Meditation Garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

I will have our friend come and put up the graceful brackets where they will be placed. House wrens! How excited we were as we watched Mr. and Mrs. House Wren flying back and for an entire day with little bits of fresh damp moss in their beaks. The Zen Meditation Garden is the perfect place for them to teach their babies to fly when the time comes for them to leave the nest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mitchell walks down the wet sidewalk this morning. You can see rows of mulch and flowers on the sidewalk. These will be planted later this week in the large flower garden on the opposite side of the house.<\/span><\/p>\n
