Terrell, John Tustin, Doug Van Hooser, JR Vork, Virginia Watts, Patricia Williams, Penny Wilson, Chris Wood, and Sally Zakariya.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><em><strong>NEW THIS WEEK &#8211; in\u00a0 Art<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>I am working every day on<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><em>Winter Wonderland <\/em><\/h3>\n<p><strong> (3-part series for the wall)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 3 pieces are\u00a0 moving along very well.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been able to spend most days working in the studio with the bright wintry-sunshine streaming through the Venetian blind and brightening the entire studio.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And, while I am working, I am also listening to a good book.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been reading &#8220;The Tin Drum,&#8221; which is 3 books.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0I am about finished with Book 3 and really enjoyed this book while I am working in the studio. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Tin-Drum-G%C3%BCnter-Grass\/dp\/0547339100\">See it here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I work in STEPS &#8211;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 1 is\u00a0 planning the\u00a0 size of the work and making the selection for fabric colors\u00a0 and gathering the materials that will become part of the art work. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For Winter Wonderland, I am making 3 pieces.<\/p>\n<p>One is a long rectangle;\u00a0 one is a short rectangle, and one is square.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 2 is when the actual bead working begins.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I am working on Step 2 of the process &#8211; it is called &#8220;Capturing the Cabs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Once I have decided where the\u00a0 cabochons and\u00a0 other objects will be place, then I begin doing the bead working techniques that will affix them to the surface.\u00a0 This week I managed to get most of\u00a0 this completed. I think that after I work today, all of the cabochons and found objects will be captured and then &#8211; I will move on to Step 3.\u00a0 I will save that for another article.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Encrusted Bead Work is what I do in the studio.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>This method is extremely time-intensive.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I was blessed with patience!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is meditative and peaceful &#8211; nothing can be rushed or moved to completion any faster.<\/p>\n<p>I work one \u00a0little stitch at a time &#8211; one tiny bead at a time.\u00a0 Hour after hour, I am patiently doing the WORK that will eventually become a work of art.\u00a0\u00a0 Since I was a painter most of my life, I view these new fiber pieces as &#8220;paintings&#8221; It is done with beads.  Inside the square, I have cptured the largest stone. es and started to work beads arounmd the edges to hold them tight to the cloth. &lt;\/p&gt;\n\" data-image-caption=\"&lt;p&gt;Photo by Lynda  &amp;#8211;  I begin to arrange the largest gemstones, and establish the outside paramaters of the artwork. I stitch around the gemstones to anchor them in place. it is a SQUARE SHAPE. &#8211; 5 x 5 inches<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve worked a border around the square to define my space for the art work that I will be creating.<\/p>\n<p>Notice that each border is different &#8211; each is a variation of the others.\u00a0 My palette will be slightly different from each piece to the other two.\u00a0 Mainly, I am thinking of the subtle colors of winter &#8211; Snow &#8211; Shadows &#8211; Plant Life resting in Winter &#8211; and atmospheric effects on the earth and sky.\u00a0\u00a0 Black, Grey, Silver, White\u00a0 &#8211; Japanese Seed Beads.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>POPS of COLOR\u00a0 will peek \u00a0from the wintry scenes<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0If you pay attention you will find brilliant gems of colors outside on a winter day.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Blue, green, hot pink &#8211; and many\u00a0 other bright colors\u00a0 will surprise you when you begin to pay attention.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em>\u00a0Some Additional Notes\u00a0 on my Process&#8230;<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>I do not work on each one separately &#8211; I work on all three simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>I might spend a day or two on one piece, and then I will move on to a second piece for awhile and finally pick up the third piece.\u00a0 My goal\u00a0 in each step is to get\u00a0 each piece to the point of completion at the same time.\u00a0 The goal for this week is to get all the cabs captured on all three pieces.\u00a0 I am almost there as I write this post today.\u00a0 If I\u00a0 stay focused and keep working, I may get to the final stage of\u00a0 Step 2 .<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><strong>*<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3 class=\"font-inherit\"><em>Next week\u00a0\u00a0we look at where I get inspiration for my art works and writing.<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"font-inherit\"><em>I will share a few ART books on my shelves in the studio.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ll\u00a0 give you more ways I stay focused and how I\u00a0 &#8221;
