\u00a0The \u00a0Week in Photos\u00a0 – January 10 – 16, 2021<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h1>\n

at River Road Studio\u00a0<\/span><\/span> <\/em><\/h1>\n

Welcome!<\/p>\n

The studio is cleaned and ready for me to begin working.<\/p>\n

My first project this year will be a series of\u00a0 TWELVE\u00a0 small\u00a0 wall pieces.<\/p>\n

The collection will become the “Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring Series.”<\/p>\n

I am beginning the series with 3 pieces that will be called, “Winter Wonderland”<\/p>\n

Hello!\u00a0 Welcome to my River Road Studio.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Yes, just step inside. <\/span><\/h3>\n

My ceilings are very light green and walls are a Caribbean Blue. <\/span><\/p>\n

My husband created this color for me. We spent many years in Puerto Rico in the springtime.<\/span><\/p>\n

We created the feeling of the\u00a0 island in this room.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"This is the place where I create mixed-media fiber art –<\/strong> <\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Here is the table where I do the actual work.\u00a0 The machine you see here is called an ACROBAT.\u00a0 That is a Closed Circuit TV – without this machine I could not do any of the work that I create.\u00a0 It is a live TV camera that is focused on my work and my hands. With the aid of the Acrobat CCTV, I can SEE the beads, needles, and materials.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/a> \"\"As you can see, this room has paintings on the walls, <\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

and art objects – everywhere. The paintings were \u00a0done by me.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The enormous pots beneath the shelves were done by me.\u00a0 They are called, “The 3 Sisters.”<\/p>\n

\"\"This studio is my place for making fiber art, and it is also a library.<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

I collect poetry\u00a0 and art books.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"Studio_PoetryYou will usually see a cat or two in my studio.\u00a0\u00a0Stretched out on the futon is Inca.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

He was born a feral cat, and we managed to save his mother and\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

three \u00a0of her kittens.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Inca loves to hang out in the studio with me.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"This is the view from my window.<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

I work at this library table\u00a0 and I enjoy the amount of light <\/span><\/h3>\n

that streams into my studio.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"Here is Miss Opal.\u00a0\u00a0She is a “regular” in the studio.<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Her specialty is watching over the studio and napping beneath the futon.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"I like pottery and glass – so I have a lot of it in the studio.<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

I lay out the 3 pieces that will become the Winter Wonderland Series.<\/span><\/h3>\n

This fabric is softly colored with grey on white to give a feeling of winter snow.<\/span><\/h3>\n

I thought it would be perfect for the background for “Winter.”<\/span><\/h3>\n

Beneath each piece of fabric here, is a layer of<\/span><\/h3>\n

Laceys Stiff Stuff.<\/span><\/h3>\n

That will give the\u00a0 fabric a solid backing.<\/span><\/h3>\n

I will build up layers of bead work, gemstones, and found objects.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Place cabochons and coral on the fabric –<\/h4>\n

I use E600 to hold them down so I can begin the beadwork.<\/h4>\n

Step #1 for Winter Wonderland #1 – will be a mixed-media fiber art wall hanging.<\/p><\/div>\n
