Honk, Beep, Toot<\/em><\/h3>\n

Good morning\u00a0 My Friend,<\/p>\n

Today’s\u00a0 poem is a tribute to National Pet Day.<\/p>\n

I wrote this poem as I enjoyed\u00a0 my \u00a0morning coffee today.<\/p>\n

I am posting it here\u00a0 for National Pet Day.<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t it interesting that when we sit down to write, a remembered incident comes to mind and just like that, we have a theme. I write with my whole body and every little part of my body remembers just what happened at any time in my life and the whole body creates the poem.<\/p>\n

I never know when I face that blank page what will be coming across my fingertips and typed to the page. I can expect new words, and surprises as I am writing.\u00a0 It is all part of the creative act of writing.<\/p>\n

This morning, I remember the fun of opening the door in our house in the darkness of early dawn on one Thanksgiving Day.<\/p>\n

All 3 of my beautiful \u00a0and much-loved Chinese Geese \u00a0came racing into the house.\u00a0 This is where I begin the story in my poem today.\u00a0 Honk, \u00a0Beep, \u00a0and Toot were the morning \u00a0wake- call for the \u00a05 sleeping children upstairs.<\/p>\n

Fun was always a priority in our house, and this is a day that they all remember\u00a0 with laughter.\u00a0 As I completed the poem, I\u00a0 discovered a new word that I love \u2013 thwacked.\u00a0 \u00a0That word was a gift\u00a0 as it came to me just when I needed it.<\/p>\n

I love what the MOUTH does as we speak that word \u2013 THWACKED.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonk, Beep, and Toot\u201d<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

No one expected to hear<\/p>\n

Alarming wake-up calls at dawn<\/p>\n

Three white Chinese geese running wild<\/p>\n

In circles through the house<\/p>\n

One Thanksgiving morning<\/p>\n

Now, marching with wings outstretched<\/p>\n

Anxiously screaming orange beaks<\/p>\n

Laughter, the response of our family<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Panic, fear, confusion<\/p>\n

Every goose in a frenzy,<\/p>\n

Tooting, Honking, Beeping<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dropping feathers and more<\/p>\n

A blustery trio\u00a0 seeking an exit<\/p>\n

Yelling as six webbed feet thwacked out the door.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t imagine a life without pets.<\/p>\n
