WORDS and IMAGES \u00a0<\/b><\/i>
\n
\n<\/b><\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
for this new year.\u00a0<\/b><\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Morning Hour<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
In the early morning hour<\/div>\n
a nippy breeze<\/div>\n
wrapped \u00a0around my bare feet<\/div>\n
like \u00a0soft gray cashmere clouds.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
My own reflection<\/div>\n
slowly materialized-<\/div>\n
I was exposed, naked,<\/div>\n
on a clear icy glass<\/div>\n
surface.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Outside the frozen windowpane,<\/div>\n
an icicle boundary<\/div>\n
surrounded my view<\/div>\n
of the aging Douglas Fir.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I turned for a closer look<\/div>\n
through the silent porthole<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Quick movements<\/div>\n
in the shadow<\/div>\n
revealed<\/div>\n
one tiny \u00a0ruffled bird,<\/div>\n
a solo performer<\/div>\n
hunkered down, deep,<\/div>\n
on snow-clogged branches.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Inside this room,<\/div>\n
a blizzard-<\/div>\n
a scattering of words still lingered-<\/div>\n
Waited \u00a0to be gathered,<\/div>\n
In a winter bouquet-written on a page,<\/div>\n
in spite of the bitter cold.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We have been here<\/div>\n
for a thousand years<\/div>\n

In the early morning hour.<\/div>\n
