\u201cDream Sequence\u201d # 4<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\nIn my dream<\/p>\n
I climb upwards<\/p>\n
on the ladder I stumbled upon<\/p>\n
in the woods one afternoon.<\/p>\n
Earth disappears<\/p>\n
the ladder is unstable<\/p>\n
\u201cKeep it straight up,\u201d I whisper.<\/p>\n
\u201cKeep your body centered. Stay poised.\u201d<\/p>\n

“My Daughter Cut the Roses”<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
My daughter looked<\/p>\n
at the bouquet of fresh roses<\/p>\n
noticed two of them were drooping.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me show you how to trim the roses<\/p>\n
so they stay fresh and strong.\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Her hands held the roses tenderly<\/p>\n
One-by-one, trimmed off extra leaves<\/p>\n
\u201cThese will make the water stink,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She found scissors in the drawer<\/p>\n
put the roses in a bowl of tepid water<\/p>\n
held each stem under water<\/p>\n
sliced them all, diagonally –<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I cut the rose under the water,<\/p>\n
little bubbles of air come to the surface.<\/p>\n
Now, when the rose inhales<\/p>\n
it will only breathe water into it,<\/p>\n
it won\u2019t fill up with air.<\/p>\n
The living water inside the stems<\/p>\n
gives longer life to each rose.\u201d<\/p>\n
She carried the freshened flowers<\/p>\n
In the tall glass vase<\/p>\n
back to the center of the dining room table<\/p>\n
darkest crimson buds, sunny yellow petals,<\/p>\n
deep green fern leaves<\/p>\n
and a frilly white carnation.<\/p>\n

“My Daughter Cut the Roses”<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
My daughter looked<\/p>\n
at the bouquet of fresh roses<\/p>\n
noticed two of them were drooping.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me show you how to trim the roses<\/p>\n
so they stay fresh and strong.\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Her hands held the roses tenderly<\/p>\n
One-by-one, trimmed off extra leaves<\/p>\n
\u201cThese will make the water stink,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She found scissors in the drawer<\/p>\n
put the roses in a bowl of tepid water<\/p>\n
held each stem under water<\/p>\n
sliced them all, diagonally –<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I cut the rose under the water,<\/p>\n
little bubbles of air come to the surface.<\/p>\n
Now, when the rose inhales<\/p>\n
it will only breathe water into it,<\/p>\n
it won\u2019t fill up with air.<\/p>\n
The living water inside the stems<\/p>\n
gives longer life to each rose.\u201d<\/p>\n
She carried the freshened flowers<\/p>\n
In the tall glass vase<\/p>\n
back to the center of the dining room table<\/p>\n
darkest crimson buds, sunny yellow petals,<\/p>\n
deep green fern leaves<\/p>\n

Finishing Line Press<\/em><\/strong> is a small specialty press.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n I sincerely hope that you and your friends who love literature will want to be on my mailing list. The little book would be a really lovely holiday gift to send to friends on your personal list next Christmas!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Your response will let me know you want to be on my mailing list and that you would buy a chapbook. I\u2019d certainly love to hear from you. Once I received your reply, I will have the publication announcement sent to you in early summer prior to publication.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Once the card arrives, you will have 2 weeks to order a chapbook<\/p>\n If you have friends who love literature and poetry, please send this message to them ASAP. I will be creating a mailing list and will include all who have sent me a response with your mailing information if you indicated you want to buy a book when you received the Pre-Publication Card.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The press run for the Chapbook<\/p>\n \u201cwill be determined by the SUCCESS or LACK THEREOF of advance sales.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n I will love knowing that my first chapbook, first snow, <\/em>will be in your personal library or collection or that you chose to gift it to friends.
