{"id":5133,"date":"2019-04-30T16:02:23","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T20:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lyndalambert.com\/?p=5133"},"modified":"2019-04-30T16:02:23","modified_gmt":"2019-04-30T20:02:23","slug":"weather-observations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lyndalambert.com\/wordpress\/weather-observations\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Weather Observations&#8221; for Day 30 of National Poetry Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Post #259<\/h3>\n<p>30 April 2019<\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1><em>\u00a0Day 30 of National Poetry Month<\/em><\/h1>\n<h1><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Enjoy this wintry-themed \u00a0poem.<\/em><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>It&#8217;s one of my personal favorites.<\/em><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWeather Observations\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>6:30 AM, overcast and chilly<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You appear at my doorway<\/p>\n<p>an Aloe Vera plant slumped in your left hand<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat should we do with this?\u201d you ask.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Clouds drift around your head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo we have a name for this one?<\/p>\n<p>It fell out of the nest this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Winds are 14 miles per hour<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Visibility is 7 miles<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Your fingers clutch fragile memories<\/p>\n<p>floating around the dangling roots<\/p>\n<p><em>Medicinal plants are not always accurate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rain or snow determines your travels<\/p>\n<p>A simple procedure- one hour, or so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Partially sunny and chilly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Visibility 10 miles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One by one, the surgical team<\/p>\n<p>visits our Aloe vera plant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cjust a little blood\u201d &#8211; the nurse says<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat will have to do,\u201d you say.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Observations are higher or lower<\/p>\n<p>than what is listed in a short-range forecast.<\/p>\n<p>I say, \u201cThe moon is in the last quarter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You thump my hands, one after the other \u2013<\/p>\n<p>and once again.<\/p>\n<p>You warn me, \u201cthis will pinch a lot.<\/p>\n<p>The Moon is in Libra today\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t move,\u201d you say.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The surgeon says,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the moon is ready, we will go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready anyway, you say.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The time is now &#8211; the sky is exposed.<\/p>\n<p>Current positions of the planets<\/p>\n<p>The musicians<\/p>\n<p>are ready to roll into the concert hall.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Noon: 30 degrees F.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Partially sunny and chilly<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can hear the aloe plant<\/p>\n<p>breathing across the entire room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You are given a new name:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stat Chest Bed Number 10<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>5 PM.: Sunny and Chilly<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>31 degrees F.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>12 miles per hour winds<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLISHED:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Listen to a voice recording of &#8220;Weather Observations&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordgathering.com\/past_issues\/issue48\/poetry\/lambert.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here, to read and Listen to Audio of Lynda reading 2 poems.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Wordgathering.<\/em> Volume 12, Issue 4.
