“Primavera: When Spring Break is Over”<\/em><\/h3>\n\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\nCaribbean mornings<\/p>\n
earthy paradise drinks<\/p>\n
dark island coffee with hot cream<\/p>\n
tiny homegrown yellow pl\u00e1tanos<\/p>\n
early sunrise breeze with honey rolls<\/p>\n
rental cars spiral up the mountain<\/p>\n
we view abandoned plantations<\/p>\n
hacienda tourists in a group<\/p>\n
I wear my new green hat for the photo<\/p>\n
afternoon rum factory tours by boat<\/p>\n
sandy beaches never closed<\/p>\n
coconut drinks every day<\/p>\n
coral reefs and rusty piers<\/p>\n
sun burned skin<\/p>\n
soothed with aloe vera lotion<\/p>\n
we\u00a0hike steep mountain paths<\/p>\n
cross over bridges with wooden planks<\/p>\n
immerse our bodies in mountain streams<\/p>\n
scream with pleasures under torrid sun<\/p>\n
moan under a throbbing cold waterfall<\/p>\n
Caribbean nights under the stars<\/p>\n
dancing in the streets with strangers<\/p>\n
two mountain top dreamers in darkness<\/p>\n
Tony sings Puerto Rican songs to me<\/p>\n
whispers phrases n my ear<\/p>\n
(always in Spanish.)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
If a volcano erupts<\/p>\n
there may be delays<\/p>\n
flights are never on time<\/p>\n
things are often unpredictable<\/p>\n
