Thanks for the invitation, Abbie.

Here is my contribution to the request you made on your blog, Abbie. My latest book is Walking by Inner Vision: Stories & Poems, DLD Books, 2017

SYNOPSIS

In this second collection, Pennsylvania artist, professor, poet, and author, Lynda McKinney Lambert invites readers into her world of profound sight loss to discover the subtle nuances and beauty of a physical and spiritual world. . Readers soon discover a world that only a visual artist could create. Her professional background is Fine Arts and Humanities.

From her Christian world view, she takes strands from ancient mythology, history and contemporary life and weaves a richly textured new fabric using images that are seen and unseen. Lambert takes us on a journey through the seasons of a calendar year. This is a collection of memoires, stories and poems. The full length book begins in January and takes readers through the months of a year, ending in December. All stories in this book were created after her sudden sight loss in 2007 from Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. Lambert invites us to see the world with new eyes. She gives readers insight into the world around them in a way that only a visual artist could do. This book is a collection of 27 stories and 16 poems.

Opening Paragraph

A January State of Mind. January is a confusing month! Do you feel stretched in two different directions? Strange, because I feel like I am two different persons. One is the public image, the forward–looking face I wear most of the time. She is the go–getter, the high achiever, the bold, fearless professional woman. Yet, at different times, you can see the other face, another me. She is often unusually quiet, private, occasionally uncertain, aloof at times, and not always much of a group person. This brings me to a deeper question. “Do we experience feelings of duality because January is on our minds?” I do have these mixed and competing feelings in January every year. Do you?
Note: Each chapter opens with an introductory poem, followed by the stories for the month.
