This pattern is EASY – perfect for a beginning knitter. It requires only 2 types of stitches to create a \u00a0beautiful woven effect. <\/span><\/div>\n

\u00a0I found this silky orange yarn in my stash. The bright orange color is stunning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Winter arrived\u00a0in Western Pennsylvania on January 10th<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0when snow began falling in the morning. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n

The landscape\u00a0\u00a0transformed from a rain-soaked grey day\u00a0, to a carpeting of dazzling white sparkling snow.\u00a0For many people, it is NOW KNITTING SEASON.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Perfect weather for beginning a knitting project.With the crazy-busy holidays behind me now, I can get out some gorgeous yarn and a pair of needles and begin to work on something fun.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

FOR MY SCARF:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n
I am using size 8 needles and worsted weight yarn. <\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
1 skein of worsted weight yarn
\nThe pattern is a ONE ROW PATTERN.<\/strong>
\nI adapted this simple pattern a bit so I could do it. <\/span><\/div>\n

<\/h3>\n

You only need to know how to do 2 kinds of stitches – Knit and Purl.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n


\nThe pattern:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
1 skein worsted weight yarn<\/div>\n
Size 8 knitting needles<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Instructions:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
Cast on 26 stitches (if you want to make it wider, add on multiples of 4 stitches. If you want it more narrow, subtract multiples of 4 stitches.)<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I cast on 30 stitches for the orange scarf in my photo.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

For each row: K 3, Purl 1.<\/span><\/div>\n

NOTE:\u00a0 When you reach the end of the row, you will have 2 stitches left. Knit those 2 stitches, and turn to begin to make your next row.\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Repeat this row as many times as you like to get the length of scarf that works best for you.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I like this pattern because it reminds me of a hand woven fabric which is done on a loom. The texture is very nice to the touch. That is what makes a hand knit scarf so comfortable. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
