Today, I am posting “Glitter,” Part 2<\/p>\n
In which I turn last weeks’ ACROSTIC POEM into a NEW POEM using the Traditional TANKA form.<\/p>\n

I wrote a poem, “Glitter,” as my part of a group project with fellow writers in Behind Our Eyes – <\/a> Each of us wrote an ACROSTIC poem . And, I chose to write my ACROSTIC POEM in the TANKA form as well.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n

Here is the revised version of my poem, “glitter,” which I have turned into a traditional tanka poem.
\nThis tanka poem follows the tanka tradition.
\n <\/sp><\/p>\niridescent swans<\/em><\/h4>\naquatic light reflections<\/em><\/h4>\nglittering crystals<\/em><\/h4>\ntruffles in gold cellophane<\/em><\/h4>\nblack cherry tarts with whipped cream<\/em><\/h4>\n <\/p>\n
–<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n LOOK for several things in this poem:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n<\/sp>
\n*There is no capitalization or punctuation in the poem.<\/p>\n*There is not a “title” or “number” for the poem.<\/p>\n
*Line 3 is a “pivot” in the poem. This pivot changes the direction.<\/p>\n
*And, finally, the poem is not read as a sentence.<\/p>\n

BASIC Directions for creating a TANKA poem.
\nA tanka has 5 LINES.<\/p>\n
–<\/p>\n
Line 1 – 5 syllables (introduce an image or idea)
\nLine 2 – 7 syllables (expand on that image or idea)
\nLine 3 – 5 syllables (The THIRD LINE is a PIVOT line. Your poem changes or expands focus here)
\nLine 4 – 7 syllables (a reflection)
