I feel like we are friends, so I&#8217;ll relax and call yinz,\u00a0 YINZ.)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"a6ogc-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"a6ogc-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"a6ogc-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">Saturday Mornings usually begin around 3 a.m. when\u00a0 I get up to finalize the <\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">Saturday is for Sharing &#8211; feature.<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">This is my weekly Guest Author post on my blog,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.llambert363.blog\">SCAN BLOG &#8211; Read it here!<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">Typically, I have the feature outlined and photos with it and just about ready to publish. I go over the story for typos (I am super great at missing typos!). Yep, everything looked perfect\u00a0 yesterday morning. That first hour, I completed one blog article for &#8220;Walking by Inner Vision&#8221; &#8211; published it and was now working on article #2 for SCAN.\u00a0 Rolling right along.\u00a0 Feeling good. I&#8217;d be done working when the sun comes up,\u00a0 I thought. Optimistic. That&#8217;s me. Always looking UP.<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">I hit the PUBLISH button. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9gd2l-0-0\">Next, I pressed\u00a0 the VIEW POST button.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"c6blq-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"c6blq-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"c6blq-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"dtk5p-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"dtk5p-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"dtk5p-0-0\">Title?\u00a0 Looks good.\u00a0 Check!<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"dtk5p-0-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"ctk26-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ctk26-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ctk26-0-0\">But, WHOA, there is no STORY here!.<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"ctk26-0-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"8hrjh-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"8hrjh-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"8hrjh-0-0\">Instead of PUBLISH I must have hit DELETE.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"kaq4-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"kaq4-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"kaq4-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"6rejt-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6rejt-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6rejt-0-0\">Yep. NOTHING but empty space\u00a0instead of the nice story for Mike Bayles, a Minnesota poet and author. It was now 5 a.m. when I made this discovery. I was not smiling now! Optimistic me was feeling a bit scattered. Confused. Now what?<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"4d77u-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"4d77u-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"4d77u-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\">NOT only was the blog post EMPTY &#8211; OMG &#8211; I soon discovered I had LOST all of the text from my interviews with him. Mike and I had worked back and forth several times for about 2 months.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\">Now, it was gone.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\">A quick check into Mike&#8217;s file revealed I had not saved the texts there. What???<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\">All that was in his file were some scans from his book. After a frantic search through other files and folders, I realized I had nothing more on Mike.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"df2ke-0-0\">What to do? Today was the scheduled day for Mike&#8217;s article to appear on SCAN.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"5c6cn-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"5c6cn-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"5c6cn-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"bl8ke-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"bl8ke-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bl8ke-0-0\">I mean, it must have gone to the depths of hell, or, on the other side, into outer space &#8211;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"f0j8t-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"f0j8t-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"f0j8t-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"ar7ms-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ar7ms-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ar7ms-0-0\">It was that sort of GONE. Vanished!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"582b3-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"582b3-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"582b3-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"cu93h-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"cu93h-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cu93h-0-0\"> I had NO BACKUP. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"dqj5m-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"dqj5m-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"dqj5m-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"512k3-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"512k3-0-0\"><em><strong>I know. I know. I know.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"1h76k-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"1h76k-0-0\"><em><strong>How STUPID that is, eh?<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"4tlrb-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"4tlrb-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"4tlrb-0-0\">I have 2 Options:<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a2m4m\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">\n<h4 class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">#1_ sit down and cry<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">#2_ reinvent the story<\/span><\/h4>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">Crying is not my style. I don&#8217;t have time for crying. I&#8217;m a tough cookie, I&#8217;ve been told.<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">I remembered that Mike and I had exchanged a number of e-mails because I was asking him questions about his writing life. Fortunately, I found a couple of letters and began to work from them in developing an entirely new story for Mike.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><strong>Because Mike discusses his writing method<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><strong>\u00a0 as akin to\u00a0 creating <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><strong>&#8211; a\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>COLLAGE &#8211;\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><strong>I decided to make Mike&#8217;s Story<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><strong>a Literary Work of Art<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">I created his feature article as a<\/div>\n<h3 data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">Literary Collage<\/h3>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">That means, I used fragments and slivers, little pieces of a variety of texts, links, and scans.<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">How can YOU do this?<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">Shift them about into various places in the story.<\/h3>\n<p>Do NOT think about creating a LINEAR timeline or telling the story in a step-by-step way.<\/p>\n<p>Past &#8211; Present-Future &#8211; You can move them around and intertwine them into a beautiful new picture.<\/p>\n<p>Try to be more\u00a0 CREATIVE with your story.<\/p>\n<p>Turn\u00a0 YOUR STORY into a LITERARY WORK OF ART.<\/p>\n<p>The SECRET IS:\u00a0 There are no rules.<\/p>\n<p>Give it a try? I think you will be delighted with the &#8220;breath of life&#8221;\u00a0 you can bring to a story by working in this way.<\/p>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">I am a Visual Artist &#8211; CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING comes NATURAL for me!<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">It WORKS like MAGIC.<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">Mike&#8217;s Guest Author feature turned out great and he was happy. He remarked that he really liked the way I worked his &#8220;words&#8221; around in and out of information about his book. I even included a scan from the Amazon dot com advertisement for his book. And, I used his stunning\u00a0 book cover for the Featured Photo for the article.<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"22sif-0-0\">The\u00a0 story turned out fascinating because of Mike&#8217;s unique writing and his thoughts, but it has a really nice VISUAL dimension to it as well. It reads well, and it looks interesting on the page. I like it much better than what I originally wrote.
