Moon –<\/h4>\n

high, heavenly<\/h4>\n

worm,<\/h4>\n

orbits the March sky<\/h4>\n

over the course of a lunation,<\/h4>\n

steps high<\/h4>\n

tonight\u2019s full moon is small,<\/h4>\n

smaller than a spot<\/h4>\n

Edgy moon!<\/h4>\n

The Worm Moon of March<\/h4>\n

decidedly elliptical.<\/h4>\n

<\/h4>\n

Calculated – between Moon and Earth<\/h4>\n

mystery of Moon\u2019s night path<\/h4>\n

observant\u00a0common center of mass<\/h4>\n

Perigee!<\/h4>\n

Earth, Moon-<\/h4>\n

Fiery red!<\/h4>\n

If the weather is obliging<\/h4>\n

O<\/h4>\n

Jumpy moon beams<\/h4>\n

size and phase wax and wane,<\/h4>\n

distends,<\/h4>\n

strutting down the skyway<\/h4>\n

the firmament\u2026<\/h4>\n

Perigee,<\/h4>\n

Come closer!<\/h4>\n

March is the month of Full Worm Moon!<\/h4>\n

the ground shifts,<\/h4>\n

softens,<\/h4>\n

inviting the robins back<\/h4>\n

wormy casts reappear in the mud<\/h4>\n

<\/h4>\n

the barycenter<\/h4>\n

mid-point<\/h4>\n

Earth worms await the Full Spring Moon.<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

(It is called \u201cworm moon,\u201d because this shift in season brings out the earth worms. This is a PI Poem.)<\/em><\/p>\n
