I was asked to LIST TEN things<\/strong> you may not know about me.<\/span><\/em><\/h1>\n

\"Photo_MomJeanneMe1944006\"<\/a>One:\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

I was named to honor \u00a0my Aunt Jeanne. \u00a0My \u00a0middle name is pronounced \u201cJean\u201d because it i\u00a0FRENCH. My aunt was Dorothy Jeanne Kirker Hess. She was one of my best friends for just about all of my life. In this photo, I sit beween my Mother, Esther Kirker McKinney – \u00a0on the left – and my Aunt Jeanne – \u00a0on the right.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Two:\"Photo_Me_MomDad_943\"<\/a><\/strong> <\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

My father was drafted into the Army during WWII and left for Europe when I was 2 weeks old. \u00a0That was in September 1943. He returned from the war after I was two years old.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Esther_Ida_Kids_025\"<\/a>Three: <\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

As a child, I ran barefoot, climbed trees, played in mud, danced in the rain and hated dolls. All \u00a0of\u00a0 \u00a0those attributes still apply to me at age 70.<\/p>\n

In this photo I am sitting beside my grandmother, Ida Matilda Kiesling Kirker. My mother, and siblings are Patricia, David, and Thomas. \u00a0 Don’t let the dress fool you. I am a girl who plays like a boy, and loves trucks and the earth in my Father’s gardens.<\/p>\n

\"GE<\/a>Four:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

I married my high school sweetheart \u00a0at age 17. He is now 73 years old and I still think he is “cute.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"GE<\/a>\\\\<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Five:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

My lifetime passion for English Literature blossomed because my mother took me to the public\u00a0library every week for a new armload of books. My favorite pastime as a child was reading on the front porch in the summer time.<\/p>\n

Six:\u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

My best memories of \u00a0school \u00a0are \u00a0the times when Mrs. Matthews read to us in 6th\u00a0<\/sup>grade and Mr. Brown taught us grammar and read Shakespeare and poetry to our class in 10th<\/sup>\u00a0 grade. They are the two teachers who stand our in my memory, to this day.<\/p>\n

\"GE<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Seven:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

A new pair of shoes can heal any wound. Celebrate your most precious occasions with a new pair of shoes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Eight: \u00a0\u00a0\"_MessageFromtheStars\"<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

I find nothing more compelling than Greek mythology. My art grows out of the myths and the ancient texts I have read. this piece is _Message from the Stars_<\/p>\n

\"GE<\/a>Nine:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

I am certain that God can be seen if you climb high enough into the apple tree in Mr.\u00a0 Corbin\u2019s back yard. \u00a0I always knew that TREES are the AXIS MUNDI between here and there. I planted this GINKGO in 1967 – today, it soars twice as high as the house at River Road. I love this tree.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"KittyHawk_march2014\"<\/a>Ten: \u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

My best advice for life is \u201ctrust no one who does not like animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our pets love us unconditionally and forever.<\/p>\n

Our animals are the closest thing we will know of heaven until we are finally there. \u00a0The Bible opens with stories of the creation of animals, and ends with the animals – front to back, the BOOK gives us the story of the CREATION of the universe and our PLACE \u00a0in it. \u00a0Our PAST, our PRESENT, and our FUTURE.<\/p>\n

Above: \u00a0Rocco was adopted in January 2009, when this photo was taken. \u00a0He was about 7 at this time. \u00a0 He is my personal guard dog – never takes his eyes off of me.<\/p>\n
