Welcome.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I step onto the first rung<br \/>\nof a weather-worn silvery-gray ladder<br \/>\npoised in the middle<br \/>\nof the woodland path.<br \/>\nWith a heave of my body<br \/>\nI begin the upward climb into the cloudy mist<br \/>\nThe earth disappears below me.<br \/>\nNo end in sight. The ladder sways in wide arcs,<br \/>\nunattached to anything above me<br \/>\nI breathe deeply with the realization of imminent peril<br \/>\nObscure. At the apex of<br \/>\na septuagenarian decade \u2013<br \/>\nmy eyes grow dim in the mist.<\/p>\n<p><em>Soft nocturnal music,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> like the glisten of amethyst crystals,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> is familiar. Welcome.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My memory is sharp<br \/>\nOh! She writes poetry and creative non-fiction essays. She retired from teaching as professor of fine arts and humanities at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvannia, USA. Lambert\u2019s first book, <em>Concerti: Psalms for the Pilgrimage<\/em> was published by Kota Press. Her work appears in Spirit Fire Review; Indiana Voice Journal; Magnets &amp; Ladders; Stylist; Breath &amp; Shadow; Wordgathering; The Avocet; Proverse Hong Kong; Behind our Eyes: A Second Look \u2013 Anthology; and other literary journals and anthologies. She is also an actively exhibiting fiber artist.
