\u00a0Breath\u00a0 \u00a0\u2013\u00a0 House Plants\u00a0 – A Room of my Own<\/strong><\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Day 20\u00a0 of the\u00a0 21-day challenge.<\/p>\n

I share 3 blessings each day from my\u00a0 personal life experiences in western Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\n

Blessing 1: Breath\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I am blessed each time I take time out to do some deep breathing exercises.<\/p>\n

I learned this as I was reading _Ten Habits to Wellness_ by Michael Ellison<\/p>\n

I discovered if I do 10 deep breathing exercises when I go to bed, I usually fall asleep very quickly.<\/p>\n

I have learned if I feel stressed, when I pause to do 10 deep breathing exercises, stress is gone.<\/p>\n

Even when I am walking with someone and talking a lot, I will do some deep breathing exercises and remain quiet for a while and it keeps me balanced and relaxed.<\/p>\n

My brother, Tom, died this year as a result of Pulmonary Fibrosis, and each time I breathe, I remember him, and how long held onto life, and the hope he had for just one more day of life.<\/p>\n

I take time out for the deep breathing exercises, and I thank him for his courage to live his life to the final day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blessing 2: House Plants<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I am thankful for the houseplants in my home.\u00a0 I have 3 peace lily plants. One is from my Son-in-Law’s funeral. Two of my plants are from my husband’s funeral.<\/p>\n

Other plants have been with me for decades. I purchased them nearly 30 years ago at a rare plant nursery in Georgia.\u00a0 My daughter and her family lived in Newnan, Georgia at that time.<\/p>\n

Most of my plants are succulent. Some spend the summer outside on the porch, and other’s remain inside.\u00a0 The oldest\u00a0 plat I have was my grand-mothers. It is a Hoya plant, and is often known as a WAX PLANT.\u00a0 Occasionally it blooms and fills the house with a heavenly fragrance every night.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n

Blessing 3:\u00a0 A Room of my Own<\/h3>\n

I am blessed as I usually had a room of my own where I could make art with no interruptions from anyone.\u00a0 My studio’s over the years changed.\u00a0 At first, I had the kitchen table to myself after the kids left for school.\u00a0 I would paint at that table all day.\u00a0 Later, I created a room in my basement and for years, I painted there.\u00a0 Once I began my academic years, I had actual studios – one for weaving and one for painting, at Slippery Rock University of PA.\u00a0 When I went to West Virginia University, I was given a very large painting studio because the faculty felt I needed such a large space.\u00a0 My paintings became very large during those years, because I had the room to work on them.\u00a0 Now, I have a studio where I make fiber art, and a different studio where I pain and made pottery for years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Final Word:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I am catching up with my daily blessings.\u00a0 Now, I need to write ONE more –\u00a0 \u00a0I”ll finish up tomorrow.<\/p>\n
