Day 16\u00a0 of the\u00a0 21-Days of Blessings\u00a0 Challenge.<\/p>\n

I share 3 blessings each day from my\u00a0 personal life experiences in western Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\n

Blessing 1:\u00a0 New Chapbook<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

There is something about a chapbook that attracts me to them.\u00a0 Perhaps it is because I\u00a0 taught\u00a0 bookmaking\u00a0 some semesters at\u00a0 Geneva College.\u00a0 I have a love for small books, and particularly if they are hand made and one of a kind piece of art.<\/p>\n

I signed up for the pre-sale of American Poet,\u00a0 Paul J. Willis’s new release, Orvieto.\u00a0 It arrived and the book is a beautiful collection of poems he wrote during a trip to Orvieto, Italy.<\/p>\n

This suite of twenty-six poems reflects his exploration of the city and it’s place in history as well as the present.\u00a0 Published by Solum Press.<\/p>\n

Blessing 2: Helping Hands<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With the help of my daughter and granddaughter, the house is now nearly ready for the installation of carpeting that will be tomorrow.\u00a0 I still have a lot of small things to pack up and remove from all the rooms but the biggest part is completed.\u00a0 One word to describe this project is “UPHEAVAL.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/header>\n

Blessing 3: Check-Out Girl<\/h3>\n

I am blessed every time I see Linda\u00a0 who works at the check-out in our Giant Eagle grocery store.\u00a0 Linda is a little person, with a big personality.\u00a0 She knows us since childhood so we always have lots to talk about as we go through the line.\u00a0 She takes her time and there is always a lot of laughter and chatting, in the process of checking out with her.\u00a0 Last night we talked about cats, and Linda got out her cell phone to show us her cat as she told the story of how they found her in the newspaper.<\/p>\n

That is the beauty of living in a small town – we all know each other, for generations.\u00a0 Just walking through the store doing our shopping, it is usually a time to be stopped and have some conversations with other shoppers.\u00a0 We stand here and there, in little groups talking about anything that comes to mind, with people we have known for decades.<\/p>\n

Before we did the grocery shopping we had dinner together at a local restaurant.\u00a0 It’s the same thing there, the waitress spends a lot of time chatting with us from the time we arrive until we say, “Good bye.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Final Word:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If a customer is in a rush, It would be wise to not get into the aisle behind us.\u00a0 Shopping is a very social time for most of us.<\/p>\n
