On Day 8 of the\u00a0 21-day challenge.<\/p>\n

I share 3 blessings each day from my ordinary life experiences in western Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\n

Blessing 1: Guardian Alert<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

I am thankful for the company that provides a\u00a0 system that would alert them if I fall or have an accident in my house or outside working in my flower gardens or taking a walk in the woods nearby.<\/p>\n

I know this system\u00a0 works! On three occasions an ambulance arrived\u00a0 during the night, in response to the alarms.\u00a0 Fortunately, the alarm was set off once by one of my cats, and twice by me. All false alarms!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blessing 2: Disruption<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0On November 17,\u00a0 I will have new carpeting installed in my house.\u00a0 Upstairs and downstairs!\u00a0 Since I have lived here\u00a0 since June 1967, the entire house is a museum holding the history of our family in every room. Before the current carpeting is replaced, I must move some furniture, and dozens of smaller objects from each of the rooms that will be carpeted.\u00a0 Some family members will come to help with this enormous task a couple of days before the installation.\u00a0 I am already knee-deep in moving smaller artworks, collections, books, an entire wall of yarn storage, archives, records\u00a0 and books from shelves where they are stored in just about every room.\u00a0 Yes, this would NOT be a good time to just drop by for a little visit.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/header>\n

Blessing 3:\u00a0 Fall Clean-up<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n
\n
On November 13 and 14, my lawn-care man\u00a0 will be here working on the property.\u00a0 We walked together and made a list of what must be done before winter sets in.\u00a0 I am hoping that the two large trees will shed their leaves before the men come to work so that we don’t have a carpeting of soggy leaves to deal with in the spring. I am also hoping the weather is not too cold on those days because they will be working\u00a0 outdoors.\u00a0 I am so thankful that I found this business 3 years ago, because I had some very disappointing and frustrating\u00a0 experiences with three other\u00a0 teams prior to finding this fantastic man who works for me now.\u00a0 He actually works on a schedule each\u00a0 week, so I always know what to expect. He cleans up after each job, and never shows up at night to mow the grass.\u00a0\u00a0<\/header>\n

Final Word:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This\u00a0 21-day challenge\u00a0 has kept me occupied with thinking about the many positive and encouraging things I encounter each day. Keeping my focus throughout the day becomes a habit that we can carry with us long after the challenge ends. This time spent in thinking about the goodness of each day can become a lifestyle and lead us to a greatly enriched life.\u00a0 A habit is formed, one day at a time.<\/p>\n
