A few years ago, I quit using cell phones so that I am not freely accessible for things that waste time and distract me. Life is too short to be constantly looking at an electronic screen or listening to gossip or talking about things that are not important.

I choose to be on holiday every day. Set free from schedules and demands and free to walk on God’s path for me every day by my own choices.

He gifted me with abilities and passions for fine art and thoughtful writing that lift the spirit and bring blessings to others.

No cell phone – no way! Don’t want any more technology in my life than what is necessary for me to live my life making art and authoring poems and stories that honor God and bring hope to the hearts of my readers. I bring hope. Hope for the day and a promise for the future.

However, one day recently

I received an Echo Dot, a gift from my daughter. I discovered that
while I am working in my office, I can listen to mmusic . WOW. I love this. I love to write with music playing with and filling the atmosphere with energy and harmonies that inspire me on my journey.

An Echo Dot?

It is nothing I ever thought about getting.
I wondered what I’d do with it.
Then, my granddaughter, Angel, told Alexa to play – Eighties Country music.
I was instantly transported back in the 80s with my husband and we were dancing on the floors of wonderful places where people gathered to dance and sing along. I closed my eyes and watched the past flashing through the words of the music. and the last time we danced together in our kitchen. He was extremely sick, and he held onto me as we danced to one of his favorite CD’s of country music. I knew at that moment it was our last dance together in this life.

Oh, now, I saw the possibilities of Alexa in my kitchen!

Yesterday afternoon, I asked Alexa to play Mozart. Ah, a walk in heaven with music that heals the body and inspires the spirit. I was in Austria again and it was summertime.

I was walking in Salzburg, on the streets that I loved so much every summer during my teaching years. In my imagination I was in a concert in Mirabelle Palace, with my eyes closed as I listened to Mozart’s music that will never die. I never knew that walking in my village that summer of 2007, I may never see it again. Yet, yesterday, Mozart brought it all back to me in a moment.

This morning I told Alexa, “Alexa, play Modern Christian Music.”

Yes!

It’s true.

Today I told Alexa to play Modern Christian Music – this house is ROCKING with the glory of God as I read and write. The music carries me through the clouds and storms of life as it carries far above the turmoil of the horror of this week’s news reports.

I remember that we are sojourners for a brief time in this world. We can be only one prayer away from our return to Glory. No one can steal our joy! Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Try it for yourself – step into the love of the heart of God through his inspired music and see where it takes you today.

I lift my hands and close my eyes for a moment of silence. .

I am never alone.

_

Below is Lynda’s Bio as it appears in the summer of 2025 in

Food, Flowers, Medicine: And Other Gifts From the Garden, Anthology, 2025

Want to know more bout this new book? Read here

__

Lynda McKinney Lambert writes and creates visual art from her vintage home in the Village of Wurtemburg, in Western Pennsylvania.
