Sara Teasdale (1884 – 1933)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sara Teasdale was born on August 8, 1884, and died on January 29, 1933<\/mark>. <\/span><\/p>\n

She was an American lyric poet known for her short, personal lyrics, and she won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry<\/a> in 1918<\/span><\/p>\n

Is there anything more heart warming than to discover the work of another poet that speaks to our spirit?<\/p>\n

I discovered a book by Sara Teasdale that I did not know I had in my \u00a0poetry collection. How exciting it is to find a treasure that was hidden away, as this little treasure\u00a0 from the past.<\/p>\n

This morning, I began to read the book, and the poems are so sensitive and beautiful.\u00a0 What a find for me to discover this little book of poems.<\/p>\n

I am sharing two poems from the book with you this morning.\u00a0 These are poem 2 and 3 in the book.\u00a0 \u00a0The first three poems have captured my attention, and I am so excited to be able to read them each morning as I set aside the time to be with Sara Teasdale.<\/p>\n

I watch them marching<\/p>\n

Silently and still,<\/p>\n

And I know that I<\/p>\n

Am honored to be<\/p>\n

Witness<\/p>\n

Of so much majesty.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do I care?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

What do I care, in the dreams and the languor of<\/p>\n

spring,<\/p>\n

That\u00a0 my songs do not show me at all?<\/p>\n

For they are a fragrance, and I am a flint\u00a0 and a<\/p>\n

fire,<\/p>\n

I am an answer, they are only a call.<\/p>\n

But what do I care, for love will be over so soon,<\/p>\n

Let my heart have it say and my mind stand<\/p>\n

idly by,<\/p>\n

For my mind is proud and strong enough to be<\/p>\n

silent,<\/p>\n

It is my heart that makes my songs, not I.<\/p>\n
