~ After Thinking About the Year ~ Poem<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

I wrote this poem for National Poetry Month, April 1, 2024..<\/p>\n

National Poetry Month\u00a0 begins today, April 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 This year, 2025, I am doing something NEW.<\/p>\n

Why?\u00a0 I’ve entered my Past Publications VAULT, and I am bringing past published poems to my blog this year.<\/p>\n

For me, 2025, is National\u00a0 Poetry YEAR.\u00a0 I\u00a0 will be posting poems from my Past Publications VAULT \u2013 from 1980 to the Present.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 2025 is a milestone year \u2013<\/h3>\n

FORTY -FIVE\u00a0 YEARS<\/h3>\n

of writing and publishing my stories & poems world-wide.<\/p>\n

The Poem:<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n
After thinking about\u00a0 the Year<\/em><\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

After thinking about \u00a0the Year<\/p>\n

before breakfast today I<\/p>\n

contemplate the vacant gravel<\/p>\n

driveway as year-end holidays ended.<\/p>\n

Everyone departed for home.<\/p>\n

First , I thought of those who<\/p>\n

greet the day before dawn,<\/p>\n

hustle \u00a0through \u00a0heavy traffic on<\/p>\n

Interstate 79 north, \u00a0towards Pittsburgh,<\/p>\n

just an\u00a0 hour away.<\/p>\n

Kentucky daughter \u00a0and her family<\/p>\n

lingered another day\u00a0 longer.<\/p>\n

Maryland son left a day early after<\/p>\n

Nerve-wracking \u00a0shopping adventure.<\/p>\n

Our roots are deep here in western<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania\u00a0 where<\/p>\n

quality of life is abundant.<\/p>\n

Remembering our dinner \u00a0in<\/p>\n

sea green dining room, grandma\u2019s<\/p>\n

tablecloth of bottle-green linen<\/p>\n

under \u00a0her exquisite<\/p>\n

vintage field of<\/p>\n

white crochet lace flowers<\/p>\n

X-mas hemlock tree remains in the corner<\/p>\n

years of family photos \u00a0on tables and walls<\/p>\n

zealously displayed year-round.<\/p>\n

Lynda McKinney Lambert writes and creates visual art from her vintage home in the Village of Wurtemburg, in Western Pennsylvania. She writes poetry and personal nonfiction essays. She currently has six published books available at all retail booksellers. Her artworks have appeared in international exhibitions, including Japan, New Guinea, Austria, and the United States.\u00a0 Lynda retired from her position as Professor of Fine Art and Humanities at Geneva College in 2008 due to profound sight loss. She invites readers to discover the subtle nuances\u00a0 and beauty of a physical and spiritual world as she weaves strands from history, nature, and her personal life experiences.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
