But, somebody has to do it!<\/p>\n<p>We are now into our final quarter of making and sending the cards.<br \/>\nI can&#8217;t believe we are almost at that finishing line for Part #1 of our ambitious endeavor. It is from her &amp;#8220;Flopwers of the Water,&amp;#8221; a series of pottery displayed in her solo exhibition, Primal Garden, September 9 &amp;#8211; October 2, 2011 at Merrick Art Gallery, New Brighton, PA.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;This sculpture is bright red and has a shape similare to a ripe strawberry.  It is decorative art.  On the top of the rounded shape, is a little cluster of green glazed balls.  The red part of the sculpture has the appearance of man small holes in it. We appreciate your\u00a0 feedback, and please pray for us as we continue to do the work necessary.<\/p>\n<p>__<\/p>\n<p>This photo shows a ceramic sculpture I made for a solo exhibition in 2011,\u00a0 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/themerrickartgallery\/\">Merrick Art Gallery<\/a> after losing my sight.<\/p>\n<p>What an exciting event for me and for those who came to the opening and visited the show during the month-long exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0 journey into making art as a blind person (pottery and Mixed-media fiber art)<\/p>\n<p>dates from 2008 to 2024. But this year, there is something NEW.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024,\u00a0 I began to paint again!<\/p>\n<p>This post card collaboration\u00a0 with Carol gave me the courage to &#8220;try it again.,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Looking back, I realize how The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/themerrickartgallery\/\">Merrick Art Gallery<\/a> gave me a first\u00a0 gift of\u00a0 affirmation\u00a0 after sight loss in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>It was a night to remember, as my work was selling, and the gallery was buzzing with friends and patrons who came to celebrate with me. I continue on my mission of making art to share with the world, through my art and my poetry. I&#8217;ve published 5 books since I lost my sight and I continue to show my art nationally.<\/p>\n<p>This month, my art was accepted into the InSights Art Exhibition at Louisville, KY.<\/p>\n<p>Carol attended the festivities and you can read about her experience on her blog today <a href=\"https:\/\/blindontheliteside.com\/blog-2\/\">Read it here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This quote, below, is meaningful to me:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;a single picture is \u00a0worth a thousand words \u2013 as the saying goes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I had a flashback recently about earlier times.<\/p>\n<p>I remembered that I made paintings on\u00a0 post cards in 1988 when I had a fellowship\u00a0 at\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hambidge.org\/\">The Hambidge Center<\/a>\u00a0 in Rabun Gap, Georgia.\u00a0 I did it as a warm-up exercise to begin my day of painting. I also had to work on projects that would fit in my car for the trip home when I departed for the long drive back to western Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>This memory came to me and I realized recently that\u00a0 have painting on post cards since August 1988, at the Hambidge Center. They have been in juried exhibitions and sold very well over the years.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>THIRTY-ONE\u00a0 YEARS\u2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>painting post card sized work\u00a0 during the summer months as I traveled abroad in addition to that fellowship here in the US.\u00a0 WOW \u2013 that is amazing. \u00a0 Little by little it all comes sifting back to me\u00a0 . I am certain, now, that 1988 would have been my first time to \u00a0use Strathmore cards, in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Do you find yourself doing anything in your own artwork hat dates back to another time or place?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lynda<\/p>\n<p>__<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Blessings and<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">GOOD NEWS!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>\u201cBlessings\u201d\u00a0 often arrive in my rural mail box at River Road Studio!<\/h5>\n<p>Blessings arrive\u00a0 through my computer when readers leave me a comment or reflection.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings can be\u00a0 financial gifts\u00a0 that I did not know were coming to me, or when someone buys a book or a work of art from me.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings are days when I can go out to lunch with a friend, or simply\u00a0 go a walk every day with my dog, Miss Mitchell. I also love working in my flower gardens in the warmer months.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings come to us all the time if we are open to them. Like the little bird chirping outside my dark window this morning.
