National Poetry Month – Day 4
\n<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Tuesday, April 4, 2023<\/strong><\/h1>\n
\n

I post a new poem each day in April.<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n

Dream State<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

In silence, I walk closer<\/p>\n

shapes are smooth, rounded<\/p>\n

dispersed light, yet bright<\/p>\n

dreams and visions are different.<\/p>\n

I remember the sequence of<\/p>\n

serene movements.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Can fractured images be interpreted<\/p>\n

in three-dimensional vision?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I hold something to give him<\/p>\n

clear pictures, living colour.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

tall and healthy, I see a silken beard<\/p>\n

He grasps the gift I brought.<\/p>\n

ecstatic to see me.<\/p>\n

The dreamer does not remember what happened.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Visions are supernatural.<\/p>\n

This is not a dream.<\/p>\n

He opens the door of his 1941 Ford Super Deluxe truck<\/p>\n

soft vintage green, like polished sea glass<\/p>\n

anxious to greet me<\/p>\n

long hair shifts lightly in the<\/p>\n

afternoon sunlight<\/p>\n

we are not asleep<\/p>\n

not in a dream<\/p>\n

summer grass, warm beneath my bare feet<\/p>\n

I am safe against his body.<\/p>\n

A perception of tranquillity.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
