We started writing our personal Walking by Inner Vision Journal together.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0We discussed \u00a0different forms \u00a0of writing in the past eleven months. We will have\u00a0 THIRTY lessons completed by the end of the year. Look over your \u00a0&#8220;Writing by Inner Vision Personal Journal&#8221; \u00a0today. \u00a0It is now a \u00a0good time for us to talk about how to organize your writing projects.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In the AUTUMN we can expect to gather a HARVEST from our labors during the year.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s begin to get your writing organized.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Just this past week, I have been updating my own writing projects.\u00a0 I organize my work periodically throughout the year.\u00a0 The more often\u00a0I do it, the easier it is to stay organized. My writing goes out to publishers regularly.\u00a0I have to know what I have sent and to whom. I have to be able to find a particular piece of work quickly and\u00a0send \u00a0it out on time.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Why is it important to be an organized writer?<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>When you are writing regularly,\u00a0 you&#8217;ll \u00a0eventually begin to think of having your work published. You will need to be able to find the pieces\u00a0 as you need them.\u00a0 If they are not organized, you will become frustrated because you will be wasting a lot of time hunting them down.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Begin NOW and make it a HABIT to\u00a0 be organized.<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>I developed a\u00a0\u00a0SYSTEM\u00a0to keep \u00a0accurate \u00a0records on the computer AND \u00a0in BINDERS for hard copies\u00a0of records.<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Here is how I do it.<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div>**<\/div>\n<div><em><strong>On the computer:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div>I created\u00a0\u00a03 <strong>individual COMPUTER <\/strong>\u00a0folders\u00a0for my archives.<\/div>\n<div>Folder 1 &#8211;\u00a0Title of the piece is listed by Year\/Date it was written<\/div>\n<div>Folder 2 &#8211; Title of the pieces is \u00a0listed Alphabetically<\/div>\n<div>Folder 3 &#8211; Works Published, in which you will \u00a0list each published piece ALPHABETICALLY by TITLE\u00a0\u00a0(I list the poem or essay, \u00a0alphabetically, and below the TITLE, I list all publications where \u00a0that particular piece appeared, with dates, and any other information necessary per each publication.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>**<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Save each of your writing pieces!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Here is HOW my Computer list will LOOK as I save it:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div>First, record the kind of writing\u00a0\u00a0(poem, essay, memoir, etc.)<\/div>\n<div>Second,\u00a0 year created.<\/div>\n<div>Third, a title \u00a0of the piece.<\/div>\n<div>Example:\u00a0\u00a0 Poem_15_title<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><em><strong>It will look like this:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div>Poem_15_August Afternoon<\/div>\n<div>**<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0STEP ONE &#8211; created your COMPUTER FOLDERS. See Above information.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>STEP TWO &#8211; \u00a0will help you CREATE binders that will hold your HARD COPIES of EACH work \u00a0just as you have saved \u00a0IT on the computer. This is your BACK-UP.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For hard copies, I created five (5) binders to hold hard copies of each different kind of writing that I do.\u00a0 I put each writing piece into a\u00a0transparent page protector. Also in the binder is a\u00a0 copy CD\u00a0that has \u00a0all the documentation\u00a0 back-up for each category. \u00a0Note: you can purchase the page protectors at Staples or Office Max.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Your BINDERS will\u00a0NOT be\u00a0the same as \u00a0mine &#8211; but will be according to your own NEEDS. You will have more or less binders than I have, most likely.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>EXAMPLE: Here is a list of my five binders:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0#1 Binder\u00a0is \u00a0for\u00a0 my poems.<\/div>\n<div>#2 \u00a0Binder is exclusively for Japanese tanka and haiku.<\/div>\n<div>#3 Binder is for essays and memoirs.<\/div>\n<div>#4 Binder is for blog articles in\u00a0Walking by Inner Vision.<\/div>\n<div>#5 Binder is \u00a0for blog articles in \u00a0SCANdalous &#8211; Recollections<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>IMPORTANT: EACH \u00a0binder holds a hard copy in transparent sheet protectors and a CD on which I have another backup of my computer files.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>I cannot stress hoe vital it is to have several back-ups of your work.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Writing Assignment #29:<\/div>\n<div>Organize your writing.<\/div>\n<div>Use my system to get organized and you will be so glad you took the time to do this.<\/div>\n<div>Make it personal to fit YOUR needs.<\/div>\n<div>My information will\u00a0help you\u00a0get started, but you will fashion it for your own purposes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>BE ORGANIZED and SAVE TIME<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">__________<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">This article is written by Lynda McKinney Lambert.
