I am sharing this INTERVIEW from 2019\u00a0 by SMASHWORDS.<\/p>\n
This short interview gives you an idea of how I developed my plan of action for creative significant projects, I’ll share a brief description of the three areas that influenced my working life in the arts and literature.<\/p>\n
I am a visual artist and an author of five published books. <\/em><\/p>\nWhat was I doing for many years prior to my full-time writing career?
\n<\/em><\/p>\nPresently, I am a retired college professor of fine arts and humanities.<\/em><\/p>\nMy\u00a0 teaching expertise is in poetry, studio art, art history, and non-fiction writing. I work across disciplines in my professional life and taught an interdisciplinary approach in higher education. I hold three degrees in Fine Art and English.
\n<\/em><\/p>\nWhat did I do prior to teaching?<\/em><\/p>\nI am a former executive director of a community museum and art center in western Pennsylvania. This position gave me valuable insight into the business side of the art life. I managed two mansions, two carriage houses, and properties at The Hoyt Art Center (Previously The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts.)
\n<\/em><\/p>\nBefore my tenure at The Hoyt, I worked as a grants specialist at a California college. There, I turned my academic training into marketable skills that are useful for the rest of my life. <\/em><\/p>\nMy work at two colleges and an arts center put me on the solid ground\u00a0 of being accountable and gave me a strong work ethic.

Published on SMASHWORDS – 2019-03-09.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe Question – <\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\nLynda, What is your writing process?<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\nMy creative process is in clearly defined steps.<\/div>\nFirst<\/strong> –<\/div>\nI become aware of non-verbal impulses – a sort of fluttering inside of me.
\nIt is like a gentle sense of urgency that is something physical I begin to feel.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nSecond<\/strong> –<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\nI begin to order the space in which I work. I organize any clutter, sort through any put papers or items . I cannot work if there is disorder because it is a distraction.<\/p>\n
Third<\/strong> –<\/p>\nI begin to lay down a structure on which the poem, essay, or artwork will begin.<\/p>\n
Fourth<\/strong> –<\/p>\nI work back and forth between ADDING and SUBTRACT ING. <\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<\/h4>\nI BUILD and I DESTROY.<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\nIt is a dance with materials – senses – images.<\/p>\n
I order chaos and find balance.<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n
