Welcome to Colorful Autumn<\/em><\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

I begin to create this week’s post cards.<\/h3>\n

I will mail them, one-a-day,\u00a0 to Carol Farnsworth,<\/h3>\n

in Ada, Michigan.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Today,\u00a0 I am working this week on Pantone Color cards.<\/p>\n

I discovered\u00a0 these cards at Dick Blick <\/a>and they are also sold on\u00a0 Pantone Official Store<\/a><\/p>\n

I purchased\u00a0 a box of 100\u00a0 cards and each one is a different Pantone color.<\/p>\n

Each card features a large paint sample and the paint color number is listed on each card. +<\/p>\n

WOW. They are gorgeous.<\/p>\n

The cards are published by Chronicle Books. They arrive in a nice box that holds the cards perfectly.<\/p>\n

This week’s\u00a0 series is a group of Self-Portraits – one on each colored card.<\/p>\n

I selected some actual photo portraits of me, at various times in my life. I also use some photos of my dogs, Miss Mitchell and Rocco walking through a deep snowdrift,\u00a0 because the photo is on the cover of my poetry chapbook_first snow_.\u00a0 This collection of wintry-themed poems\u00a0 is sold by the publisher, Finishing Line Press.<\/p>\n

I also included a fall photo of the sunlight on a\u00a0 pathway through the woods behind our home.\u00a0 I walk this pathway every day with my dog. A walk in the woods along the creek is special any day of the year.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

A Self-Portrait can be anything that you love,\u00a0 like your pets, your hobby, something you do at your work place, or a picture of yourself.\u00a0 You can make post cards to send to friends, family, and other folks and make them personal and unique\u00a0 by adding your own photo or artwork.<\/p>\n

I use Elmer’s Glue to mount the pictures on the cards. You can buy Elmer’s Glue at\u00a0 any grocery store or dollar store, or even art supply stores.\u00a0 This white glue\u00a0 dries transparent, and is usually invisible.<\/p>\n

I love Elmer’s Glue so much I buy it by the gallon!<\/em><\/h4>\n

+The photo below is one of the cards\u00a0 for this week’s mailing.<\/p>\n

After applying the glue on the\u00a0 back of the pictures, I put wax paper around the card to keep the glue from touching anything while drying.\u00a0 I place the packet of card and wax paper under weights that\u00a0 keep them\u00a0 flat and\u00a0 bond the pictures onto the post cards. This is EASY to do!<\/p>\n

What’s Next?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

My next job is to write a short poem that will be placed on the\u00a0 reverse side of the card, and to address this card to send in the mail to\u00a0 Carol. Come back to see\u00a0 a poem and a photo of how it looks on one of the cards I am making this week.<\/p>\n

Some come via\u00a0 telephone calls from friends, family and clients.<\/p>\n

In addition, blessings can arrive\u00a0 through my computer when readers leave me a comment or reflection.<\/p>\n

Some blessings are financial gifts\u00a0 that I did not know were coming to me, or when someone buys a book or a work of art from me.<\/p>\n

Some days I am invited out to lunch, or simply\u00a0 go for a walk in the park with a friend.<\/p>\n

Blessings come to us all the time if we are open to them. I love to give and I love to receive.<\/p>\n
