Copyright 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Walking by Inner Vision Journal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Writing Assignment #27<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I always remember the special nuances of a place I have visited when I listen to the music that is created by the local musicians and composers.\u00a0 I always shop for CDs of that particular music and bring it home so I can enjoy it.\u00a0 When I listen my memories come alive and I remember specific little activities or places of that place.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lyndalambert.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Venicie_GrandCanal.jpg?resize=591%2C340\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite places to visit is Venice, Italy. Every summer I visited Venice during the Redintore Festival in July. As soon as I arrived at my hotel, I purchased tickets to a Vivaldi concert.\u00a0 Of course, I bought the CDs of those concert performances and listen to them often throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lyndalambert.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/05_lunchatguggenheim.jpg?resize=539%2C365\" alt=\"\" width=\"539\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Photo: Lunch at the Guggenheim Museum and Restaurant with my students.<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>Here is a link if you would like to take a little cyber visit to Venice today.\u00a0 You can listen while you read my blog!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GRxofEmo3HA\" target=\"_blank\">Vivaldi, the Four Seasons<\/a><\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>Another activity I did in Venice was to walk through the city, then select a place where I could sit down and write in my journal.\u00a0 Some times, I opened up my sketch book and did drawing of the people, buildings, boats, and I wrote notes in the sketchbook, too.<\/p>\n<p>Later, when you are back home, you will love looking through your sketchbooks and reading your notes once again. \u00a0\u00a0<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lyndalambert.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/05_Yellowpalace.jpg?resize=354%2C523\" alt=\"\" width=\"354\" height=\"523\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I use my notes and sketches to bring back the details of a special day. I turn them into a poem.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a poem I wrote from such an experience, very early one morning as I sat beside the Grand Canal enjoying the beauty of the new day.<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>Venezia, 7 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>I hear deep bell sounds<\/p>\n<p>From the Renaissance tower<\/p>\n<p>morning announcements<\/p>\n<p>Arrive in waves<\/p>\n<p>embrace me low<\/p>\n<p>surround me deep.<\/p>\n<p>A duet begins<\/p>\n<p>To shape this early light<\/p>\n<p>mingled with lapping<\/p>\n<p>pushing<\/p>\n<p>surging<\/p>\n<p>waves in the lagoon.<\/p>\n<p>Polished black boats are tied<\/p>\n<p>to terra cotta stone piers<\/p>\n<p>covered by slippery gray mists.<\/p>\n<p>An undulating shrill voice<\/p>\n<p>somewhere<\/p>\n<p>out of view<\/p>\n<p>soars over<\/p>\n<p>aqua cleansing waters.<\/p>\n<p>Four Chinese women pause<\/p>\n<p>form a circle<\/p>\n<p>their heads lean back<\/p>\n<p>mouths open wide as they laugh<\/p>\n<p>at fat pigeons taking staccato strides.<\/p>\n<p>The thin man in green cotton pants nods<\/p>\n<p>as he sweeps away the debris<\/p>\n<p>from the all-night celebration<\/p>\n<p>his long flexible broom<\/p>\n<p>scrapes away trash and fireworks<\/p>\n<p>scattering them into the heavens.<\/p>\n<p>The scratching of his broom<\/p>\n<p>mingles with the chorus<\/p>\n<p>of bells, birds, water,<\/p>\n<p>women\u2019s chatter<\/p>\n<p>and the movement of my hand<\/p>\n<p>as I write in this journal.<\/p>\n<p>It is the morning after<\/p>\n<p>Redintore Festival<\/p>\n<p>once again<\/p>\n<p>the Redeemer\u2019s fireworks<\/p>\n<p>have saved us from the plague.<\/p>\n<p>It has now been 400 years<\/p>\n<p>the sparks have kept us safe.<\/p>\n<p>Bon Giorno!<\/p>\n<p>Bon Giorno!<\/p>\n<p>Published in \u201cConcerti\u2026Psalms for the Pilgrimage,\u201d Kota Press, 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2002, 2015.
